Well some good initial data.

Mirrors are an easy aftermarket fix that can be functional at even 4” if aspheric mirrors are used.

More importantly with all the cameras and Birds Eye view…..it can make navigating tight spaces easy. Realistically, if I can see with cameras to park, I can get closer than I would normally DARE with mirrors.

After my last purchase of my wife’s car with 360 cameras, I simply won’t buy a new vehicle without some variation of it. That isn’t a gig on her or my skill set, but it’s 2024…..camera technology is cheap, and wether it’s trails or Metropolis parking, or the need to almost tap into something while garage parking, it gets used.

Everyone seems freaked out by the 91.6" inch width figure released by Scout, but it may just be an error too.

If we are to assume that the dimensions image released by Scout yesterday is accurate and to scale, then the width must be wrong.

Someone else measured the height and width of the vehicle drawing precisely with calipers and found the width is 1.127 times the height. If the height measurement is correct at 76.3 the width is actually about 86.0 in (with mirrors because they do not project).
I believe the drawing was revised with side mirrors that are now to scale (and do project). That said, the mirrors are likely to change between now and production and for me, I hope they get taller and more square.

Given the complete lack of reliable information about the dimensions other than what seemed like an aspirational diagram, I decided to estimate it by using an object of known size and extrapolating from that to the track width (body width is a bit more). The tires on the show vehicle are BFGoodrich 35x12.5R20, which are 12.5" wide.

The outside tire to outside tire width is almost exactly 7 tires. If this estimate is correct, it means the track width is 87.5 inches. I think that's it's easily believable that the body width is 4.1 inches greater (2.05 inches on each side), given the fender flare.

I believe the width spec in the diagram on the Scout website is correct for the show vehicle. Whether that will also be true for the production vehicles remains to be seen.

I hate changing subjects but going to do so anyway...anybody see where the backup camera is mounted? It would be nice to use that spare mount for stuff and not give up use of the camera.
