Yes, China is currently building a significant number of new coal power plants, leading the world in new coal power construction and accounting for a large majority of new coal plant development globally; this is despite pledges to reduce coal usage, with concerns raised about the impact on climate change goals.
I'm not letting them off the hook, but new coal power plant permits in China declined by 83% in 2024, with only 9MW approved. They reduced coal power generation from June 2023 to June 2024 (the last numbers available) by 7%, although I just read it was slightly higher in the latter half of the year. Their power requirements moving to end-point electric deployment are legion, so this initial ramp-up requiring some coal wasn't unexpected in light of that. Their stated goal is to meet new challenges with renewables. Again, we'll have to watch what they do not what they say, but as their energy needs become more stable, we'll see coal being phased out, just as it is here.

Hard to argue against stopping the bleeding in our government and halting any wasteful spending. I'm not against EVs but don't agree with mandates.
If it wasn't for mandates (some of them anyway), people would do whatever they wanted regardless of the impacts. Take seatbelts and airbags for example.

I get what you are saying, but seatbelts and airbags are safety concerns and minimal cost in the big picture. When you try to force an EV mandate which isn't something the majority of the country wants at this time, is when it becomes a problem. Not to mention the fact that the charging infrastructure is nowhere ready to support a large increase in EVs. I personally like EVs but know they aren't for everyone. I think if you make a product that replaces ICE cars at a comparable price, improve on the range limitations and increase an EVs viable lifespan the consumer market will make the final decision. It should not cost $30k to replace the battery pack in a vehicle after 8 or 10 years and given the rapid depreciation of EVs it unfortunately makes an old EV a disposable vehicle. I think that is a large part of the non-political opposition for a lot of people in that today an EV seems like a bad investment for many. I have a reservation for the Scout Terra with the extended range and I am hopeful that Scout will lead EVs in a new and more consumer oriented direction. Time will tell but they have started out with a winning approach in my opinion.

Good. That’s great news. I never expected it to leave. If they did that would damage a lot of sales and impact US jobs as cars wouldn’t sell as much so production would be cut and so would jobs.

The only thing that was stopped was the recommended sales percentage of EVs, to allow the consumer to choose what they want to drive.

Those don't need to be mandated. If people want safer cars then manufacturers will make them and people will buy them over the competition.

A/C, power windows, power locks are not mandated, how many cars sold today don't have them?

People doing "whatever they wanted" is sorta like freedom of choice. I choose to ride a motorcycle, there are impacts (pun intended) to that choice but it's my choice. I also sometimes walk on a slippery sidewalk, ride in the woods without my seatbelt on, etc.

The EV tax rebate is in law and can't be canceled by executive order. The 'mandates' were put in by executive order and can be reversed by a subsequent executive order. The rebate will still likely be removed once they can go through the process in Congress to do it legally.

Not really mostly everything you said is wrong.

Explain to me why Gas prices are still high then if were in a “oil oversupply”. Its because we don't have enough oil. Read and research before you speak.
Adjusted for inflation, the price of gas is not high. In Texas (near refineries and distribution centers), I paid $2.76 a gallon. Nationally, the average cost of a gallon of gas on 1/22/25 is $3.12 a gallon. The price of gas on 6/1/22 was $5.01 a gallon. Source: AAA. https://gasprices.aaa.com/?state=US

When you adjust for inflation, the current cost of gas is pretty much at near the median of what gas would typically costs consumers (down from the all time high in 2022).
