I never thought of the temperature thing with an EV. I camp/ sleep in my Grand Cherokee several times a year and use the key fob remote start to warm it up before I go to bed and in the AM. I usually sleep in my tent in the summer due to the heat.
That's one no-go for me, if I can't sleep in...
The goal would be that yes, the tariffs raise prices but we (US) would lower income taxes resulting in more money in individuals pockets and encouraging people/ businesses to make stuff in the US.
So tariffs, with no resulting tax decreases, aren't great.
I don't recall a discussion about all federal taxes going away, I do remember discussions of removing certain incomes from taxes (SS, Tips, etc.).

Or is the R2 the competitor starting at $45K?
Hadn't heard of it until this post. My limited googling looks like it's a black hole to pour billions of dollars in.

And with no dealer network hopefully they won't be able to screw everyone over like Ford did with the Bronco.
Massive dealer mark-up's at delivery, giving cars to high volume dealers while early res holders waited until the end of time to get their cars, etc.
Those don't need to be mandated. If people want safer cars then manufacturers will make them and people will buy them over the competition.
A/C, power windows, power locks are not mandated, how many cars sold today don't have them?
People doing "whatever they wanted" is sorta like freedom of...
