The first step has been taken. The dismantling of government owned EV chargers and the sale of all government owned EVs.

Pretty sure you can guess what comes in the following years although I don’t know how he’s going to rip out the private charging networks.

As I’ve been feeling for a while now, Trump’s other half has lost interest in Tesla and won’t fight for a US where EVs are supported.

Some details here.

EV's are not going anywhere, they just are going to stop trying to force them on people. EV's will return to being a niche vehicle for those that can afford them.

People just need to wait and see what happens. The legacy media can't be trusted, and are just trying to create havoc for the new administration.

GM EVs that lost the Fed tax credit owners got a $7500 check in the mail from GM.
Any EV that is reliant on the rebate for sales is on shaky ground to begin with.

Driving around Calif we have yet to find a State owned EV charger that worked or anyone answer the service help phone number on the dispenser.

I’m a bit encouraged after reading both your replies above. I hope the US continues goes back to being a free market where people’s wants/needs drive innovation.
Fixed it for ya. It will be interesting to see what happens when the finger is taken off the scale. If you want an EV buy one, who cares?

I think that studies showed the number one concern for potential EV owners was lack of charging infrastructure.

Get rid of the Apps and go plug-and-charge like Teslas is essential too.
The app can be a real pain in addition to the other charging aggravation's.
Simple chargers (dispensers).

I was in the Green Power Program for four years, 19 years ago. Drove a RAV EV.
Nice but very underwhelming.

One of the kids in the family needed a new car with AWD and we ended up at KIA that had prices $5K less than the competition, 100K mile warranty, good fuel economy.

Negotiated a good deal.

Then the Sales manager handed me the Keys to their Demo EV6 and I took it for a spin.
Overwhelming nice, sensational and all the complaints about the Toyota from 15 years earlier were gone.

We bought one,, haven't looked back.

People will buy EVs as they fit their needs and budget and experience how fantastic they are.
Just like I did. I ain't nobody, just accidently discovered my pre judging from past experiences was holding us back.

We’ll see as it plays out. I love my ICE PU trucks/Jeep and V8 car BUT as a hopeless mechanical addict, I also want to have a EV. I knew Scout was the one as soon as it was announced in 2022. Confirmed as soon as I saw the pic’s. Also drawn to the reduced maintenance needs of EV’s and the charge it at home bonus savings.

I have bigger concerns for the US auto industry. Cars are essentially out of production here and off shore American subsidiaries are losing share in almost all cases. Full size SUV/PU sales are peaking here and China continues to push farther ahead in refining EV options and performance.

I guess the American OEM’s can survive at some level only having products for the US market but at a diminished size. American consumers have demonstrated that “buy American” only goes so far and even with domestic price protection (tariffs etc.). Buyers are drawn to innovative and high performance products.

I think Scout is well prepared for this battle. Other American OEM’s are refining their EV offerings based hard lessons learned to date. We will continue to see the impacts of unintended consequences that show up anytime the gov tries to steer the free market.

PS: start watching the GSA vehicle auction site for possible EV bargains to drive while waiting for you Scout!!

Well put.

The Denali EV is slowly changing opinions of the doubters.
Good range towing but pull thru access at charging stations is rare.

The current $130.000 OTD price isn’t helping acceptance either.

The two currently open US Federal Government funded charging stations are reportedly mostly non-working / broken chargers and are a whopping 65 cents a KW.

That’s crazy.
May be Best to let private companies figure this out.

It seems there’s no choice. I’m currently sitting at a nice Circle K in Dobson, NC. I don’t think these chargers would be here without NEVI. Sad.

And, range anxiety! That’s why I never entertained the idea, and cost. But with the range extender and the ability to drive while the gas engine is recharging, the battery is why I opted in. We’ll see what the final product looks like soon enough.
