2004 Volvo XC90, 250k miles and counting.
The first 25 locations will be in 16 major markets, from New York to Miami and Seattle to San Diego.
Does this mean those initial locations will be limited to east & west coasts? And not going north of NY initially, towards Boston?

As person who lives in Saskatchewan Canada, I am for sure going to need the use of the travelling technician. This is going to be one of the biggest things preventing me from not following through on this pre-order for the Terra. I fear not getting any practical support out here. If they were to give me the option of fixing things myself and/or having local talent fix things that I can't, that would be most ideal.
I feel the same. I won’t follow through with my purchase unless I’m in the service area.

I hope Scout doesn't make the same mistake as Rivian wrt service. After more than two years since delivering its first vehicles, Rivian service is still lagging with months long appointment queues, vehicles sitting for days in the shop before even being looked at, tons of money spent on loaners, rentals and ride share. And more importantly, hursts brand loyalty.
I love Rivian and their techs work hard (though) there was a learning curve for them. They almost always go above and beyond and will do whats right for the customer.I haven't had any major issues and almost all the work I had done was covered under warranty but each time I've made an appointment its been from6 weeks to 3 months wait to be seen. That's not sustainable and had frustrated many customers.

I live in VT and put a deposit on the Terra… but it’s the one thing that has mostly kept me away from Rivian until recently (that and i want a full size truck) getting a two centers within 2 hours.

If they will have something in Boston in 2027 i can make that work but would assume construction needs to start in 2026 so hopefully we hear the initial locations by then

As big as Texas is, we might need one in all 3 markets. 2-4 hours between to get to one (except west Texas, that's probably closer to 7 hours)

Scout says Canada will have two centers in year two and 7 and by 2032. Let's hope the vehicles are reliable. I imagine any warranty work will have to be performed by an authorized service center/person. Convince your fellow Canadians to make deposits and maybe they'll build more centers!
Build it and they will order. No service centers in Canada = no orders. Plain and simple. Who in their right mind would do that? I'd be willing (in SW Ontario) to be within 2+ hours of a SC or rely on mobile but I can only presume that Scout won't even allow vehicles to be sold in Canada till there is some ability to service them. Earliest, 2029 before the first Scout is sold in Canada? Yikes.

With the consolidation of dealerships across the country, creating their own little monopolistic fiefdoms, I am more excited than ever to buy directly from Scout.

I’m guessing Dallas, Houston and Austin. I’d love San Antonio but I’m sure we will get overlooked due to our more popular neighbor to the north

For surely I know being in southern California I am sure a SCOUT SERVICE CENTER will be in L.A. and probably SAN DIEGO as well.

Cannot wait to get with a SCOUT sales rep to customize my TERRA.

Scout is associated with a large group - within that group, I have rarely if ever seen dealership supporting more than one brand. If you want a VW, you go to a VW dealership. If you want an Audi, then you probably are going to an Audi dealership. Never seen either an Audi or VW dealership sell a Porsche. Same goes for Lamborghini, Bentley, and Ducati.

VW group has intentionally kept it's sub brands separate so they could identify with specific sub-markets. Scout likewise has a specifically targeted market segment.

Honestly I wonder what they are smoking... Do VW dealerships think they can also sell Lamborghini and Bentleys? How about Ducati's? The only difference is Scout skipping the dealership model all together. Perhaps if Dealerships had not gotten the reputation of stealerships - they could actually rest on the valuable services they should offer.

Now I don't know if it was universal, but my stepson used to work at a VW dealership. He told me about all the issues with the ID's when they came out. I am pretty sure the dealership would have rather never been forced to service them. Perhaps that is part of the bitterness. They were forced to accept the ID's and forced to make some significant and costly changes to do that - and now are not getting their finger in the pie with a different EV in the group.
