Backwards, the Harvester adds 350 miles to a EV range off 150 for a 500 mile total.
Nope. Check the video again. The 150mile range is on the Hybrid version. It is the distance you can travel on electric only. 350 is the BEV version. 500 is the Harvester version.

UH.... that's what I said, the harvester IS the hybrid version.

I went from "If I can hold out for solid state, 500+ mile range, 15 minutes charge option I'll drop my lightning like we never met"

To "Ramcharger... hmm... I'm digging that but it's a hoss of an engine and you lost the frunk but maaaaaybeeee"

To "Hot damn, they NAILED it... I.must.have.Terra"

To "Guess my wife gets a new SUV and I'll keep waiting for a better towing EV option that can do 8k+ for our Travel Trailer"

I still see a Scout in our future, but was really hoping this was the solution to EV towing for us...

PS, I'm so addicted to how well an EV tows, I simply can't go back to ICE drivetrains again.

I would suggest you review that section again. He was not very clear, but I can assure the information I provided is correct. The engine is doing no more/no less than charging the battery. It is it and the additional components that go with it that limit the towing weight.
Hmm maybe you are right, he does say 10k and 7k on the electric version, not electric mode. If that was true it could also be due to battery chemistry as they say it has 2k lbs of payload capacity still with the harvester so the engine can’t weigh so much that it by itself would cut the towing in half.

Either way it doesn’t really matter, I’ll sadly be going back to my Ramcharger preorder. Love everything else about the Scout more but 5k towing is going to be too limiting for me.

Am I reading this right? The Harvester only has a tow rating of 5,000 pounds, or the Scout only has a tow rating of 5,000 pounds in Hybrid mode? I LOVE the idea of the Harvester - I think this is the way we should be doing EVs. But a 5000 pound tow limit means I am not buying a Scout. Disappointing.

Towing and Payload Capacity:
  • Pure EV truck: 10,000 lbs towing, 2,000 lbs payload
  • SUV version: 7,000 lbs towing
  • Hybrid mode: Up to 5,000 lbs towing for both models

Seems odd that it's still still 2 years out from final build and people already dropping like flies based on a statement about a still-being-developed car and rapidly changing tech.

Yeah I'm not happy about the 150 miles on smaller battery pack on the EREV but I can wait until final specs are clear before making any decisions, changes are likely to happen. Not to mention potential options for bigger gas tank and potentially different battery packs as mentioned in the Motortrend video. Don't roast me folks, key word is "potential".

C'mon Scout I'm pulling for ya!

Agreed. Just wait till full specs are unveiled. Plus sometime companies do this to also gauge feedback from the community to improve before the vehicle is released.

It's so funny to see so many people ready to give up after watching a video of two old guys shooting the shit and test driving a prototype that won't be available for two years.

No, you said the harvester adds 350 miles of range and you’re wrong. It adds 150. The BEV is 350 and the hybrid adds 150 for a total of 500

You guys are saying basically the same thing in different ways.
Battery only: 350 miles
Harvester version without using engine: 150 miles
Harvester while using engine AND battery: 500 miles

I caught that too. Disappointing. That’s the low end for me, but not a deal breaker. I was happy with 7k, lets me tow most vehicles on a trailer with a little headroom.
My plan was to use the Terra as a replacement for my Jeep Gladiator w/ max tow package. 5k just won’t cut it to tow my Airstream International 23FB. I was really excited with the 10k, could totally do 8k. Can’t do 5k :(

Yes, this.
BEV = 350 miles
EREV = 150 miles EV mode, w/ Harvester adds 350 to range = 500 total.
YMMV.
