I get to drive a variety on vehicles through my work. I have seen many different layouts of screens and controls. A new addition to the fleet is a Silverado EV.

I was driving the Silverado at night and tried to turn off the infotainment screen. It is pretty bright on a dark road even when dimmed to the lowest setting. I pulled over and found the screen off setting three menus deep (pretty distracting to do while driving). When I turned the screen off it went to a date and time page, aka calm or detox screen. Not good. Still way too bright for night driving. Which is weird because the drivers display can display music and navigation anyway.

The solution according to the internet is to shut down the infotainment entirely l (no music/radio), pull the fuse, and/or build a curtain or cover. Yes, I have duct taped a rag over a work truck screen before, but that’s not something I want to do to a Scout or personal vehicle.

Long story short, I am looking for a physical button. One press for Detox, two presses for screen off and one more press to turn it back on. I have seen this done in Fords, Rams and even a Honda or two.

Since I am already ranting, the Silverado EV has Auxiliary Switches. They are three menus deep as well. They are nice because I can type in my labels and pick from a limited number of icons. But not quick to access for off-road use or extra driving lights. Physical auxiliary switches or being able to add them to a favourites/shortcuts bar would be great.

  • Infotainment Detox Screen Off Button
  • Auxiliary Switches

What physical controls do you want?

Physical power seat adjustments levers and buttons I can reach down to change on driver and front passenger seats.
MB had perfected it, then Benz put an icon for it on the dash screen eliminating it on the seat itself.. Sux.

Turn signal stock. Push button turn signals are distracting and no fun. I have them on one vehicle.

Power towing mirrors with real adjustment buttons.

I’d really like to see a grouping of programmable buttons (shortcuts) like BMW has used in their iDrive system for years. This has been very helpful to avoid digging deep into screen menus. Of course, it will also depend on how useful the voice system is for deep-level functionality.

I think you got it all covered. Would be nice to have a few extra buttons for aux items and a few that can be programmed.

The aux would have an electronic block to hook up wires to control light bars and such.

03-07 Saab 9-3's had a pretty cool button for this labelled, Nightpanel. It turned off all lights to the dash and radio except for the lower end of the speedometer. Anything of importance like a high RPM, exceeding the illuminated portion of the speedometer, low fuel, etc would cause that gauge to light back up. This made driving dark sky nights much more relaxing on the eyes. Each car has some Doug DeMuro quirk to set it apart. I am excited to see the Scout "quirks"

An auxiliary control system that reduces the wires you have to run through the firewall for extra lights etc. like Auxbeam, maybe Bluetooth control capability also

Stop charge button.
Our EV6 doesn't have it, the button that is supposed to be it is bogus.

Like when you are waiting at the intersection and press the button for the green WALK sign.
It's not connected to any wiring, it's fake and there to make you feel better, that's all.

Stumbling through the chargers frustrating app to find the stop charge instructions/menu is ridiculous.
Maybe located next to the 4 way flasher button.

We used to have weak WiFi until I put up Starlink. I needed a stop-charge button Real bad. App rolled with WIFI, not Bluetooth. Hold that thought.

No information about that yet. But it seems it won’t be since from what I’ve found digging up topics on it on the Scout Community page, it seems people don’t like paddles in SUVs since they don’t fit the feel. Compared to if it was a sports car.

Everyone here is hitting the nail on the head, but I just want to add buttons on the posterior of the steering wheel are so grossly underutilized.

But please Scout allow both passenger and driver saved seat profiles.

How hard is it to make so the driver can move the passenger seat remotely.

I like hidden buttons, and buttons that are ergonomically worked into other design aesthetics.

Scout has done a good job, akin to the Hummer EV's, and Sequoia's switches.

,, and a artificial horizon on the dash.

Pilots should take a gander at that. See if they know what that is being non of them can taxi or fly planes correctly. I fly better on Microsoft flight sim 24 than most pilots do in a real life plane.
