It will be interesting to see what sorts of towing technology is included or available when the these hit the market. As a minimum, I'd expect:
  1. proper trailer brake controls, with options to save multiple trailer settings
  2. least 4 & 7 pin trailer wiring connectors
  3. TPMS for trailer tires
  4. display & connection capability for wireless cameras on the trailer
  5. blind-spot detection that automatically detects a trailer connection and adjusts range for trailer length
  6. rear-view side mirrors appropriate for towing
  7. back-up camera guide lines with zoom for hitching up

Too many to list
Integrated brake controller, 4&7 pin

Bonus would be a back up camera that has a function to spot check the load through the camera for a predetermined amount of time.

That is all I need

That’s the minimum? Hopefully they offer that as a additional package so I don’t have to pay for all that stuff!

Edb,

For sure some of that could be within an optional, reasonable cost, towing tech package. I'd expect items 1. & 2. along with an appropriate class IV or V hitch to be the minimum part of standard equipment.

Not everyone tows, it's just adding cost and weight. The Tow wiring and a connector under the dash for a brake controller should be included. The rear camera is required by law. A Tow Package option to include the receiver and Tow mirrors would reduce cost and drag for those that don't plan to do any towing.

Given that a backup camera is now required anyway, an optional towing package with items #1 and #2 would be sufficient for me.

Item #5 is likely to be included with any towing package.

Items #4 and #6 have aftermarket products that can easily transfer from one vehicle to another without having to be permanent.

Item #3 might be nice if it doesn't add much overhead and cost. Although none of my trailers have TPMS that may be more common by the time Scout is released.
