Scout has 5 Harvester Test Vehicles out in the wild, with one of them at a Rivian R&D center.

Seems Rivian and VW deal is more like Scout being Taken advantage of, Scout employees dabbing up Rivian Engineers at CES. Rivian owning a Scout Prototype with the Harvester. Yes it could be because Rivian is making The Zonal Architecture for Scout, so obviously they need something to work off of. But, Could Rivian become a competitor by making their own range extender???

Obviously Scout isn’t a Rivian or VW.

This will possibly make these lawsuits 10 times worse. Because not only are they gonna say VW owns it But now they are technically apart of Rivian. Say goodbye to DTC if this worsens the Lawsuits.

Hiring Rivian to do work for Scout does not give them ownership or control of the company. VW being involved with Rivian doesn't give them ownership or control of Rivian or Scout.

It doesn't matter how it looks to the outside world, the important part is the legal papers outlining the relationships. You will just have to hope that the VW and Scout lawyers did it correctly.

From what I’ve heard it’s Registered as its own Company which I believe its under as an LLC in Delaware. Which is firmly stated that Scout is An Independent American Company which VW has no control over.

You have to admit that it’s weird that Rivian has a Scout Harvester. But i would hope its for Rivian to make a Zonal Architecture for and not that they are making their own EREV.

And that is how it has to be for them to follow and be successful with the DTC model used by Rivian and Tesla. VW knows that Scout has to be an American made product by an American company to latch onto the Scout legacy to sell it to consumers. Trying to sell Scout vehicles through the dealerships of a German company just wouldn't work well.

It's really not that weird. Scout is providing a test vehicle for Rivian to use so they can complete whatever project they are working on. You can be sure there was a huge stack of NDA's signed by everyone involved.

I would not be surprised to see a generator option from Rivian in the next couple years. If they work with Scout to develop it and do the software integration, it lowers the design and production costs for both sides. I think the customer bases are just different enough that it won't create a competition issue.

It just for for the Software testing calm down people.
Thats what my guess was, is that its probably so Rivian can make a Zonal Architecture for the Harvester, while working on Software development and research. Which helps give Scout more time to R&D other things.

But ya never know what its for. Ot would be like Mercedes giving BMW a vehicle to Test. Just doesn’t make sense or seem right.

I hope Rivian is a competitor for Scout!

Why? Because my wife would prefer to drive a range extended R2 and I would prefer a Traveler and Terra, both with Harvester for the things I do.

My daughters want an R3, R2 and my oldest wants a Terra. All with REV, HUD, and ADBs. FSD too. I wish Terra had a Midgate

I think there is room for both brands.

Whichever is available first, especially with a HUD and ADBs gets my money first. I have reservations in for All of the above!

What’s proven by the reservations is that EREVs are the way to go. Buttons and handles and toggles and dials are the way to go. I think, for the shrinking next gen of buyers, good connectivity with HUD, ADBs are the way to go.

Jus' sayin':

The big headache with EVs in the past is the Software. Especially German.
Sans Tesla.

Outside of Tesla, Rivian seems to be on their game and on point and customer friendly when it comes to software.
It'll be a good Synergy.

In the past VW has delayed urgent needed software updates almost 2 years. Stonewalled dealers and customers.
They conscientiously want to avoid that in the future.
The Blazer EV Stop sale was Software mulligans.
