It's a screen, Scout should give us all the options they come up with and then give us the ability to edit existing layouts or create our own from the app. Give me all the abilities to customize what the dash looks like that I already have on my computer, phone and watch.

Someone with actual software management expertise is going to have to comment on this. While I agree with your sentiment the fact that no car manufacturer to my knowledge allows this suggests that it is more complex or prone to malfunctioning than it appears on the surface.

Rivian had a Halloween digital upgrade on Halloween.
Frankly who wants “Snoop Dog” as a navigation voice over Kit, from Knight rider.

I hope Scout has fun with it.

even if it doesn’t come from the factory the way you want, Carly and OBD 11 can usually short or long code different displays for your viewing pleasure.

Not too worried about the Instrument cluster, I'm just wanting the ability to turn off the center screen when I don't need it. My Ram truck has this option and I use it all the time at night or when I just want a minimal experience.
I don't like our Tesla screen being ever present, I know where I'm going and don't need a map up 24/7

Since Scout will share the same software in this aspect as Rivian.......YES PLEASE GIVE ME AN OPTIONAL KNIGHT RIDER DASH.

Now the win for everyone........OBD Eleven, will probably support Scout, as it does with Lamborghini and so on......really can allow the owner to customize the layout as much as their tech savviness allows.

Long coding would allow a person to have any display they want.

Its a whopping $100ish for OBD Eleven, and while the factory gauge displays look great on the demo vehicles already, some are not acknowledging that it isn't a reach to have Scout display however you like with what is already available in the aftermarket.

This is one area that should be able to please everyone, provided they put in less effort than changing an alternator on a conventional ICE vehicle.

looks like they heard you, with the Detox mode.

I'm hoping we can change font size...getting to the age where I need reading glasses, but don't want bifocals for driving.

I wish they would put in the new porsche electric macan Augmented heads up display and remove the normal display.
I agree. Not having an advanced Head Up Display, especially by 2027 is a big mistake. Has nothing to do with off road but the much more common traffic Scout owners will encounter.

I’m in Cleveland but visited my cousin in Germany. I rented a BMW X4 with a HUD. On the autobahn at 204 Km/hr I have to keep my eyes always on the road and can’t look down at any gauge cluster.

I have 2 Audi’s with HUD’s and I vowed I wouldn’t own another car without one, even in NE Ohio.

I think excluding a $500 item is a huge mistake. I know others will say ‘Rivian and Tesla’ don’t have them. Wait until the $7,500 tax credit is gone and see how Rivian and Tesla sales fair.

it’s like not having a sun shade on the pano or Apple CarPlay. Rivian and Tesla can get away with it for the first phase of EV or EREV adoption but not as the market and competition matures.

those are my thoughts.

cheers

Not sure driving this rig like you are on the autobahn in is part of the design story I keep hearing from Scout ;)

you can die at 80 MPH just as easily as at 125 MPH. As an Emergency Medicine Physician and Radiologist I’ve had patients die at much slower speeds. Anything that reduces the 40,000 deaths per year due to traffic accidents should be a priority for Scout. This includes Adaptive Driving Beams. About 1/3 of driving is done after dark but over 50% of deaths are after dark.

I’ll be watching the IIHS and NHTSA crash tests to see how the Scout competes in all aspects of safety.
