2023 Mustang Mach-E
Currently in the ‘23 Premium extended range Mustang MachE. It’s our 5th BEV in the last 10 years. Mostly been leasing because I consider myself an enthusiast and like the evolving technology.

There is a lot to like about the MachE. Roomy inside. BlueCruise works well. For the most part I’m getting the advertised 290-310 mile range.

The biggest hangup is how small the trunk is and that the styling is, well, weird. I leased a BMW i4 for about a year because it felt like a normal car (handling was awesome, same body as the ICE version, great interior, etc). Got back into a MachE because my wife felt the i4 was too small. As our kids get older and we can be more adventurous, I need something with some size and space for their stuff. All the off-road stuff is probably lost on me (though who knows in the future) but I love the size and the styling of the Traveler.

I started with a Lincoln MKZ 2.0H and loved it. Then switched to a Cadillac ELR and loved that more because of the paddle-forced regen braking. Then decided to go full electric with a Volvo XC40 - loved it but my wife had range anxiety - so traded it for a S60 PHEV - she loves it!

If I could get access to the regen braking without the brake pedal that would be awesome - but I might be the only person that liked it - I recall many people thinking they were paddle shifters... (not sure why when it had a CVT)

So what are the things you don't like about your current rides that's offered or solved by the Scout? For me the Model X gives me great on road utility but no ability at all to off-road, camp, do anything in nature. It's basically a minivan in a much cooler form 🤣

Looking forward to having a properly lifted large SUV that has off-roading chops and can reach wherever (and for however long) I need it to. Gonna be along wait for the my Traveler Harvester. ⏳
I'm a happy Model X owner who loves the car and has zero interest in camping. I need a 300+ mile people and bike (E variety) hawler that isn't a minivan. I drive less than 10K miles/year and I'm retired so have time, health and fortunately the resources to travel and have fun. I thought the Cybertruck was going to be my last vehicle purchase but Elon Musk had to expose too much of his personality and that made the purchase of another Tesla impossible for me.

My hope is the Scout team has seen the good and bad things that Tesla and Rivian have done and can build a great performing, low maintenance BEV SUV for a good price and still make money. If they can do that magic trick and I can purchase in early 2027, they will have my business.

2023 Tesla Model Y Performance, 2024 Volvo XC60 Recharge Ultimate Dark
Had a couple plug-in XC60 Recharge and love them and we got our first full EV last year - Model Y Performance. There’s so many things to like about Tesla in terms of technology, but also the obvious dislikes such as build quality, stale design, lack of options (and I’m not the type to spend another $6K on paint protection or $4K on wheels so I can pick mine out of a Costco parking lot. And Elon is book smart and f’ing weird and I can’t support idiots.

So I threw down $100 and we’ll see what’s actually launched in 2 years. But there’s going to be quite a few new EVs so hopefully Scout pivots and is not outdated at launch.

Love everything about my ‘21 LR Defender except all the gas it guzzles and all the emissions it puts out. Like the Rivian but it’s not really as outdoorsy and rugged or off-road capable as I’d like. No interest in ever putting gas in a car again or hauling around two engines, so no interest in the Harvester—all electric Scout for me.

2004 Volvo XC90, 250k miles and counting.
Highlight of my 2004 XC90 is split tailgate - current XC90's don't have this.

I hope Traveler can carry a spare underneath/internally w/out swinging gate - I want easy access to that split tailgate. Plus shorter front-to-back length in garage to have more room for bikes & stuff. Likely a deal-killer otherwise.

My current hybrid vehicle was the most affordable on the market at the time. However even in the top trim it lacked a lot of basic "top trim" items which in turn made it feel skimpped on.
The lack of:
  • Fog lamps
  • Auto dimming rear view mirror
  • Programmable Homelink garage door opener
  • Battery voltage monior display view
  • Wireless Android Auto/Apple Play connection
  • Powered Passenger Seat
  • Multiple drivers programable seat position, mirrors and pedal settings(push button or key)
  • Rear seats should have the "fold flat" or "pass-through" capability for whatever model vehicle is offered
  • Separate from braking and running red rear lights, amber rear turn signals
  • Maximizing of interior space for comfort and versitility
These are a few of the things I have notices vary too much between automakers and forgotten that the consumer needs and uses of vehicles must be more than meer style and performance.

"2. REAL leather instead of pleather (a.k.a. vegan leather)."

Have they said they'll have real leather?

It's a not so secret in the automotive industry that almost every car with "leather" interior is really "e-leather". Leather feels and smells great, but it doesn't tend to wear well in an automotive environment.

I work for an airline. We tried leather seats but they were starting to look terrible well before their scheduled replacement, and professional cleaning wasn't able to rejuvenate them. We ended up switching to e-leather made by one of the largest automotive manufacturers of it. It is real leather that is freeze dried, shredded up, and then built back on a composite substrate.

I'm not sure I've experienced vegan leather. But in my Scout I'd prefer something more like was in my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder - which was a micro-suede. It felt nice and soft, and wasn't as slick or as hot as leather could be. Though I really would love to have the leather smell.

The concept vehicles both had real leather which must be cleaned and conditioned no more often than cleaning your interior anyway and is simple as using leather wipes.

I'll take my wife's Cayenne's leather interior but both concept vehicles' interiors looked great. Hopefully, they offer real leather as an option at least.

I love everything about my LR Defender except for the fact that I’m burning a ton of fossil fuels and I’d really just like to stop doin that. I like to have fun going places a normal SUV can’t go, and camping in out of the way places, but I’d also like to do all that in a way that’s less damaging to the planet. The Scout will do everything I want to do recreationally and, at least with the BEV, will allow me to do it with less collateral damage. As much as I acknowledge the EREV would be convenient in certain circumstances, it holds zero appeal for me because it’s a half step towards fixing our climate when a full step is what’s required.

2023 Jeep Gladiator, 2013 Nissan Leaf
I have a 2013 Nissan Leaf and a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. My concern is that the Terra won't provide all the features that I have now. I am looking for one vehicle to replace the two, but am not going to accept a downgrade in features or comfort. As much as I like what I've seen so far, I didn't purchase a reservation. I'm going to wait for them to start rolling off the line and see how close they come to what has been advertised.

I LOVE my Sportage PHEV. Most of the time the 34 miles full EV is enough. Occasionally, like in the winter, I have to plug in midday to get all my chores around town done. First world problem, I know, but I hate using gas if I can avoid it. I am excited by the 150 miles full EV with the Harvester. That’ll get me to Seattle! 🎉
