My second property is in a remote corner of New England. I spent the first 18 years of my life living two miles from my nearest neighbor down a one-lane dirt road that was frequently washed out, 15 miles outside a very small town. We had a hand-crank diesel generator for when the power went out, sometimes for a week at a time. Had a wood boiler in the basement and two wood stoves - one in the kitchen, one in the living room. I live on an island that has had several major hurricanes in the past 20 years where I had no power and couldn't even get gasoline for several days. I know all about being "prepared."

Also, how much are you really going to "improvise" with your new Scout, Harvester or not? This ain't a CJ. Come on now.

You obviously are dead set in your view, the vast majority of orders are for harvesters, people have tried to explain why they want it and you just claim everyone else is wrong and can’t possibly be right or have any legitimate desires. Clearly scout should fire their team and just listen to you and cancel the entire harvester option

Hey man, I didn't @ you before you started coming at me, not sure why you're so offended that BEV is the future. People want all kinds of crazy things that they don't need, right? I want the company to be successful, end of story, and I hope people love their Scouts and that the company commits to a clean energy future. At the very least, I'm glad the Harvester is a power-generation drivetrain instead of a hybrid. It should help simplify things and ensure the main development goes directly into the BEV drivetrain. If some folks still have range anxiety or need towing that BEV's aren't yet good at, bravo. Get the Harvester.

My assertion is that by 2028-30 the world is going to look quite a bit different. That's all.

It depends on how fast battery and charging technology advances in the next ten years. Maybe the harvester will still make sense in five years, but once batteries offer things like 800+ miles of range and ten minute charging, harvesters will be obsolete. Hard to tell if that’s in our future, but it’s hard to believe the harvester concept has more than a ten year future. At some point we have to come to our senses and slow down our carbon emissions or none of this will matter to our grand kids as they’ll be too pissed off at us anyway.

Life is a timeshare no matter how much wealth you accumulate it one day will end. So the more we expose ourselves to different things the more of life we get to experience. Yes our bodies let us know just as our vehicles know when there's a problem and the MRI is to humans what a diagnostic computer monitor is to a car. Different is threatening to some others it brings excitement and some will never know. But if we all want people to except our difference we need to be ready to accept theirs to and along the way the two differences find out they have more in common than they ever thought possible and along the way they find Compassion which is the special sauce. I reserved a Traveller Harvester but will most likely switch to BEV when the time comes, pending actual capabilities, prices, and availability of course. I'm guessing the BEV may be available first and that could definitely swing my decision. Over the last 2.5 years my Rivian's 300 mile range has taken me everywhere I wish to go and I'm in the southeast with it's more sparse charging options. That wasn't the case in 2020 when there were very few DC chargers in this part of the country but now I see no real limitations.

Now if they offer the canvas top on the Terra I might need the truck instead . There is little more useless than the EV curse of fixed glass roofs. Give me steel/composite or one that actually opens please.

Yes, glass roofs are the EV curse.

Solar charging /power wall is at home to us like having our own Oil well, refinery and gas station.

I have an anecdote as to why. I went to western NH a couple weekends ago in my model Y, charged to 100%, but when I got to my destination, which didn't have any superchargers along the way, I was down to 35%. Now take into account the car will mostly sit for 2 days while we ski, and drain the battery another 10%. That left us with the option of either going out of our way to find a charger before we reached the mountain, or after we were done risking it to get to one afterwards. Needless to say it was a pain in the blankity blank. Anyway long story short, sometimes even 30 miles can make a difference on a road trip. That is why I chose the harvester option.

Look at it this way you put down a 100 dollars to see your cards a year from now and if you don't like what you see you fold and get your chips back. There's absolutely no risk at this table.

My friends and I bought 1 kilobyte Computers once.
We dreamed maybe one day we'd be able to buy,, maybe 10 kilobytes.
A megabyte, certainly not in our lifetimes.

Yes, but I was referring more to the charging infrastructure. I like Scout's design philosophy and ideology (body-on-frame, bolt-on-panels, buttons and tactile human-based UI's), so I don't expect much to change in the next few years as far as the vehicle I want. I was just saying that by 2028 I bet a few more folks will peel off the Harvester and opt for the pure EV due to changing conditions on-the-ground.

I could be wrong, of course. I think it's going to be a long education process before the US catches up to the rest of the world in regard to the FUD that's being spread over EV's and the range people need each day.

That said, I fully acknowledge the use cases presented here for those sticking with the Harvester.

I look forward to when they actually roll out the build sheets and associated cost hopefully that's 6 months from now and once factory is close to coming online timelines for manufacturing. Right now I feel like John Delorean I can see it feel it now we just need to build it Regardless if SC passes DTC bill Scout will be successful simply because they have a great product that makes sense in cost construction and creativity
