Fascinating stuff for the high-end, solar powered towed travel trailer. The highest-cost units, $184,000 and $151,000, each have integrated solar battery house-power systems that feature drive-wheel assist functions on the trailer during towing. This makes up for rapid battery depletion on the tow vehicle, which is why currently one cannot tow long distance with an electric vehicle. Hopefully this innovation won't cause jack-knifing and other handling issues between Trailer and Tow Vehicle. Drive assist would also help prevent getting stuck. But the units are so large, its hard to imagine their use except in a graded campground space. The non-drive unit, solar powered trailer, is "only" $125,000. Oh yeah. No benefit to being an early adopter unless you have serious cash to burn. But it will get cheaper as these guys, airstream, and pebble perfect their technologies.
