Let hope that software from Rivian gets better. Seems to be lots of glitches by 2027 they may have it figured out

Are there known glitches in Rivian’s software? I have a fairly early build and in over 2 years I haven’t encountered any issues with the UX besides poor design choices.

I hope so. While there are the occasional things that get fixed, IMO it’s close to best in class and far better than anything VW is going to dream up.

I love my Rivian and have zero problems with the UI. Volks UI was a disaster and they made a deal with Rivian. It's a good thing for Scout.

I have a 2024 R1S and have had zero issues with the software. There have been some quality control issues with some of the vehicles but not related to the software.

The Rivian software and OTA‘s have been class leading in my opinion . This will be my R1 replacement in a few years.

I have an early build 2022 R1T and overall the software has been great. I have had no issues with mine and they are constantly improving. Couldn’t ask for more.

Kinda bummed that they seem to be sticking so tightly to rivian's software. I'm not going back to the stone age without full access to my phone via Android auto/carplay. Rivian's been claiming they'll have equivalent functionality for 5 years and it's still 5 years off.

They could split off and add Carplay, it's technically possible. But I'd imagine VW saw a quick win getting both EV architecture and software by signing one check.

I have used both Rivian and Tesla software for the last 2+ years (launch customer for the Rivian).
Rivian has the best software in the industry. They did an amazing job with it. It is much simpler and usable than Tesla's. It is not perfect yet (some of the map controls can be improved).

I think Scout is lucky to have access to the Rivian software. It will save them lots of time and allow them to focus on other things. Hopefully, it will get them to production sooner than expected.

I agree, and frankly even with Rivian being competition.......its bad news if another EV brand dissolves such as the case with Fisker.

I can candidly see Volkswagen Motors absorbing Rivian at the most opportune time.

As a R1T owner, I despise the software. Have to do a reset about once a month. The design is about as poor as it could be. Disappointed to see the former head of UX at Rivian is now at Scout.

RIVIAN SOFTWARE CHIEF CONFIRMS SCOUT WILL USE THEIR TECHNOLOGY

Scout Motors, Volkswagen's new electric vehicle (EV) branch, has introduced its first two models. The company plans to leverage software and zonal architecture developed through a partnership with Rivian.

Wassym Bensaid, Rivian's Chief Software Officer, announced at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024 that production of Scout vehicles is expected to begin in 2027, utilizing this technology. The collaboration is part of a $5 billion agreement anticipated to be completed by year-end.

Earlier, Rivian and VW indicated that this technology would be applied to many of VW's future vehicles. However, it was unclear if Scout's models would benefit from these advancements until now. Scout has unveiled two prototypes: the Traveler SUV and the Terra pickup truck, both featuring a zonal architecture. This design allows the vehicles to function with a smaller number of computers that control specific sections of the electrical system. The software displayed in Scout's promotional materials closely resembles that of Rivian's current models, so Bensaid's confirmation was expected.

During the event, Bensaid highlighted that each brand using the joint venture’s software will keep its distinct identity and features. He remarked, “We’re enabling competition.” He also noted the visual similarities between Scout's vehicles and Rivian's designs, describing it as “fantastic” and a strong endorsement for Rivian's products.
