Yes, this is much wider than the original Scouts. However it is narrower than a Raptors if you include mirrors (96"), body does seems wider than the Raptor body
It all depends on the aerodynamics of the trailer. Generally the answer is a 50% penalty. Low trailer with limited drag penalty drops to 25%. Really tall and wide trailer, maybe 75% penalty. Weight is trivial vs aero.
I love the option. It's great for a dog to lie with its head in your lap! Also great for wife and a kid to both be in front for adventures.
Hard to lose that great console, though.

Personally, I prefer all EV but this may be a good application for an EREV. I reserved the Harvester but may change that if I order.
Why would I get the EREV? Since it's a serial hybrid, you only need to use it when you really need it. My wife and I pulled a 24' travel trailer across country...
Owning an F-150 Lightning for the last two years, including towing a travel trailer across country and back last year and Maryland to Texas and back for the eclipse this year, I am confident full EV is practical for most truck use. However, I will agree with you that EREV provides more options...
