  1. Dual fuel

So you know what size generator this theoretical 3 cylinder engine will drive and what amount of power it needs to put out to achieve what Scott wants to do? Cool.
  2. Dual fuel

Cause noise sucks. What if the engine speed is not tied to the throttle and it just runs at peak efficiency, say 4000 RPM. Thats not a sound I want to hear.
  3. Dual fuel

It can be set up many different ways. Until the design comes out why even question it. Why won’t a three cylinder work. All it has to do is drive a generator. Too many unknowns.
  4. Dual fuel

Ok, but your turbo charge VR6 would not be run by your throttle. Then why a turbo charged VR6 that sounds good?
  5. Dual fuel

It’s a range extender, not a drive unit.
  6. Dual fuel

It is a range extender, no a drive train unit.
  7. Dual fuel

It is not designed to keep the battery fully charged. It is designed to extend the range, not charge the battery to full. But we will find out.
  8. regenerative braking - one-pedal mode or steering wheel paddle operated?

One peddle works for me, I have three settings on my Rivian, plus it now blends the regency with the brakes. Rarely ever touch the peddle
  9. Question for EV owners: anyone own one long term? Battery degradation?

My Rivian is two years old, 41000 miles and still drives like new. I plan a minimum of 100,000 miles. I’ll keep it longer than normal because I can’t afford anything that replaces it one for one. I got lucky with the introductory pricing on a quad R1T. I love the truck. I might move to...
  10. 1st Modification will be changing out All Terrain A/T tires

And leave the house I built just so I can run wasteful tires on my vehicle? Crazy. It’s only 37 miles one way.
  11. Scout Motors plant may build vehicles for other brands (including VW), and more Scout models

It takes years, Tesla just opened a “ show room”, because of VT laws. Rumor is Rivian in maybe two years. Why not use a network already in place? I like the Scout, but enough to leave my Rivian.
  12. Scout Motors plant may build vehicles for other brands (including VW), and more Scout models

I was hoping that VW dealers would service these. So no go for me. Tired of the Boston trips for my Rivian.
  13. 1st Modification will be changing out All Terrain A/T tires

Yep, I’ve done that with my Rivian. It’s easy.
  14. 1st Modification will be changing out All Terrain A/T tires

Yeah because other trucks on the road weigh the same. I was behind a 3/4 ton sitting on a scale with nothing in it, 6800 lbs. The point is there are plenty of heavy vehicles on the road driving around every day without tire issues. Buy the right tire is the moral of the story.
  15. 1st Modification will be changing out All Terrain A/T tires

The R1T only weighs 7000 lbs. So you buy tires to match that weight. I’ve had no issues with tires. Your buddy should try the Toyo A/T EV tires. I commute on paved roads a lot so I don’t like them for that, but they are a great tire.
  16. 1st Modification will be changing out All Terrain A/T tires

I just put TOYO AT EV tires on my Rivian, heavy and battery sucking beast they are. I think at 55 lbs they are too heavy for the truck. I like them for off road, but will be switching back to OEM tires because I daily commute 76 miles a day.
  17. Dimensions Size [Updated]: Scout TERRA Pickup vs. R1T, Lightning, Silverado EV, Hummer EV, Cybertruck, Raptor

The hummer looks bigger than it is. I didn’t realize it is the same as the R1T. Goes to show what body styling does to the look of size.
  18. Low range - is this a concern?

Electric motors can turn very very slowly with a lot of torque. My Rivian in rock crawl moves very slow and all of wheels have power at the same time. I don’t rock crawl, but the times I use the setting for steep hills That are slippery it’s been great.
  19. Front Bench Seat closeup photos -- who's going to option it?

I would, I Miss bench seats and dislike bucket seats because they are never wide enough and squish my hips.
  20. Headlights need revision by the designers (resembles Hyundai Santa Fe)

Yeah those Rivian head lights are strange, but that was part of it for me, they just work. If I didn’t have the Rivian the Scout would be on my list to test drive.
