As topic says -- would you prefer one-pedal driving (1PD) or two-pedal driving (2PD) your Scout?

We don't know yet if the Scout Traveler and Terra will be one-pedal driving or two, though I'm betting it will be the more traditional two-pedal setup since the CEO seems to understand that we want to actually drive and have more control over our vehicles, not less. Or maybe we'll get a system setting that allows owners to switch 1PD off / on, so we can decide for ourselves which driving style we like better.

But I'm curious what the members here would prefer -- 1PD or 2PD?
I have a 2023 Ford F150 lightning that has the option for one pedal driving or two pedal driving and I can’t imagine life without the option driving this truck.
It’s great for driving day today. I do have to turn one pedal driving off when I have passengers in city traffic because it can make for a really rough ride.

Love one pedal on the street, not sure I would want it in certain off road situations though. Give me the option to turn it off completely and it would be great.

I don't like changing brake pads and rotors. Using 1 pedal driving with high regen means infrequent brake pad changes. That is a good thing on many levels. Also, when driving my Model X no one in the car knows if the regen is braking because it is so smooth. I have the option to brake hard when necessary which is seldom. I'm guessing 150K miles on a set of brake pads.

No idea. Never driven an electric vehicle.

Other VW group EVs do not have 1pd. VW engineers came to the conclusion that it's more efficient to allow the vehicle to coast.

It would be great if Scout gives you the option, however I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have 1pd available.

I regularly turn 1-pedal on and off. If I’m in stop & go traffic I usually want it on. If I’m on the highway (not in congestion/slow traffic) then I want it off.

This is because when I back off the accelerator I want the car to coast … not brake (and this is more efficient because you do not recapture 100% of the energy when using 1-pedal to brake). But in congestion I want the car to brake.

I use and love 1 pedal driving, but options / adjustability is always a good choice so everyone can do as they choose/more flexibility!

I think having the option is the best way to go about it.
However the VW id vehicles were certainly engineered separately from the Porsche vehicles and both sets do not have 1pd. So I wouldn't hold my breath.

I am just wondering about all those horrible city drivers that act on brake lights not realizing a vehicle is slowing by looking. I would guess most people are conditioned to think/see a car may be coasting. But actively slowing without brakes engaged might not be obvious.

That exists in all EVs with brake regen 1 pedal driving or else can you imagine how many accidents EVs would cause!

Tesla and other 1PD EVs have their brake lights light up when the car is slowing down due to regenerative braking and decelerating at a certain rate. This happens even if you don't touch the brake pedal at all.

I've owned three EVs: a Nissan Leaf, which I sold in 2022, a BMW i3, and a Kia EV6. I strongly prefer one-pedal driving, except on an open level highway. But I hope the Scouts allow varying the level of regen like the EV6 does. I also hope it is possible to turn off creep. Most of my non-EVs have had manual transmissions, so to me creep is a bug, not a feature. On my Leaf one pedal driving wasn't possible as regen wouldn't bring you to a complete stop and you couldn't turn off creep.

In addition to making city driving easier, one pedal driving is great for driving in the mountains (I live in Colordo) as you can easily control your speed on steep descents. And the regeneration is great for brake life: my i3 just needed its first brake work at 96000 miles.

Surprised only 11-12% would prefer 2 pedal driving. I remember when the Teslas and BMW i3 first came out, people panned their 1 pedal driving as like driving a golf cart. Seems that negative image has faded and now prefer greatly prefer it.

And yea I vote for 1 pedal driving as well.
