Rear rack is option on 33" but required if get 35's.
And the rack is removable, just to add. It was taken off during the night at its reveal.

And 33” tire is mounted under the body if you don't want the carrier.

Don;t worry, it is likely going to be optional. The prototype they showed is the "maxed" out version.

This is the key - skipping the tailgate-blocker isn't as great without an alternative way to carry spare. Even compact spare if necessary to fit underneath.

Something else to consider, backing into Tesla Superchargers. I travel with a storage box on my tow hitch on my "Y" and sometimes the cable barely can reach charge port due to the charger being dead center in the parking spot. Not a deal breaker.

I'll be putting a 33" under my Traveler with 35's on it if I can. Spare goes on the rear for the drive home if I can't plug the flat in the field. Been there done that.
Cheers

I don't like the look of the spare tire on the back. I much prefer the clean, elegant, streamlined look at the back. It would be nice to see an option without it.
For me, it's not the look so much as being able to access the cargo area while parked in my garage. I don't want to have to open the garage door.

I will just remove the spare while at home locally, and install for road trips or off road. The carrier swings out for tailgate access anywhere except in my garage, like you I don't want to raise the garage door (winter anyone?) just to access the rear cargo area.
