For me there are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of production uncertainties. We are easily looking at more than 3 years out. Concept vehicles to production generally have a lot of changes, and honestly range tends to be something that initial goals never really truly reach.

I have plenty of ICE vehicles. I want and EV with greater than 300 miles of range. Don't really want the complexity of both at the same time.

In a couple of years, I suspect a lot of questions will be answered - abet many might have to wait till production starts and final versions drive off the assembly line (with price tags attached). I am crossing fingers, perhaps even praying a bit.

Realistically - this is the 4th vehicle I have had high hopes for - and the other 3 failed to even come close to meeting their expectations (2 have not reached production and honestly probably never will, the 3rd I think finally made production (abet 2 years late), and missed it's targets by so much it was DOA for me. I think they promised 400 mile range and delivered 240 - and only for $30k more than initially projected - not to mention they completely redesigned the styling from perfect to well frankly UGLY. I really hope the Scout projections have been based on a realistically obtainable battery tech - not some thing promised that might actually go into production in a decade or 2. Not that I don't dream that that tech will become available in time to be in the Traveler and it have oh say 600 mile range between recharges.... Hope springs eternal.

If the Scout EV has a better battery chemistry than NCM (FePO4, Sodium, solid state), and supports 800V charging I will go full EV.

Otherwise, learned a lot from my NCM 400V Mach E gen 1 that the next one will have to do better.

We're 100% electric now. Our Mustang and Lightning have been fantastic vehicles and we expect to have 120k-150k miles on the Mustang by 2028 so it'll be time to consider the next thing.

I won't even rent a gas vehicle anymore. Never having to go back to a gas station is a happy thought. Spending less than $100/year on maintenance is a happy thought. Refueling the vehicle at home from solar is a happy thought.

I can't come up with a good reason to order the gas vehicle. Is that's what I wanted, I would have kept the Tacoma.

I have my fingers crossed for Solid State Batteries in these. I'm going full BEV Traveler.

I reserved full EV. The gas motor is going to add costs complexity and maintenance for something that I'd probably need once or twice a year (If that).
I will tow a horse trailer and a camper so the range anxiety is real, but I don't think I'll really need the range extender.
Additionally it's going to reduce payload and possibly even towing capacity.
How could it possibly reduce payload or towing ? 60% of the battery will be removed and replaced by a small light weight engine. The electric/gas will weigh slightly less than the electric only. The source of horsepower and torque will not change.

At this time, it's actually unknown how much battery will be replaced and if the generator will weigh more or less.

I guess it's possible for it to go either way.

My initial thinking was based on going from ice only to phev and he added components, but I see your point that the weight will be offset by the smaller battery.

It's honestly just a waiting game at this point, probably for another year or so till they release the final specification.

I have a 2021 Mach-e now and when I move to next vehicle it will be for sure full EV and SUV. I am between the Traveler, Rivian R2 or Jeep Recon as of now. All of which are not out yet. It seems of those 3 the Scout maybe the largest of them.

150 mile range electric only (ev+gas) vs 350 mile range (ev only). 42%. = 58% less battery.

Also, the ram REV 1500 and gas/electric have exactly the same towing capacity and virtually the same payload. Ram chose to use a V6 penstar for the generator.

I have no intention on changing my mind and will order the full ev Terra option only. I take care of my families fleet of vehicles and have no need to add more gallons of oil to my shelves lol. I already get my amsoil membership for free. Haha. Plus my old Ram requires enough maintenance for 2 vehicles since it has 300,000 miles on it. Don’t plan on getting rid of it so my dad can use it when he wants to.

I live 50 miles one way or less to salt and freshwater boat launches so long as it gets the 350 miles I’m safe with towing. Whenever I buy a travel trailer i don’t mind stopping more often to stretch anyways. I don’t normally drive further than 350. Miles are around the same as the model y anyways and it works out well. I love driving Evs (especially the one pedal driving) and if I miss the load roar of a v8 I will just jump into my old truck.

However, I do love that Scout is stepping up and offering both options. I could see the need for some people and before I purchased the model y I probably would have ordered one myself.

We have been full EV for quite a while and will never go back. My 18-year old's first car is the Model 3 my CT replaced. She has driven a gasoline powered car MAYBE a dozen times - ever.

The Scout will be my wife's daily. Personally, my next car will be the 718 EV or something similar. I love the big truck, but sorely miss a sporty car.

EV only Terra is the vehicle for my needs. I have solar on the roof and powerwalls in the garage, and 95% of my driving is Nashville local. I rarely ever need to supercharge on the road.

I put down a deposit on one of each,,,,because range anxiety. I’ll decide as I learn more. It is reassuring to hear from youse who already have lived the EV life. What is your recourse if you actually DO run out of juice? call Triple E or sumthin? You ever roll up on the only charger for miles and it is out of order? can you get an emergency transfusion from another EV? Do you have to wait for a lightning strike like Marty McFly?
