I think this would be the biggest concern to meeting timelines for Scout. Projections have always been that the St Thomas battery factory will start producing in 2027, but the Blythewood facility seems to be light years ahead of battery production. If there are any delays, I’d assume it would be from PowerCo.

St Thomas is Power Co. production facility. Which is rumored to be scouts manufacture contract for batteries.

Im gonna try to get this confirmed today. Just was DMing with Jaime from scout. Lets see what he says.

Update when asked if Scout will be making their own Batteries or if PowerCo would be?

Jamie said “To early to say. We haven't announced anything yet.”

This may give the rumor that Scout could be making their own Batteries. But I still think that Power Co will be supplying.

Battery Prices drop from $80.30 per kWh to $53 per kWh lower battery pack prices.
Its a 51% decrease in price which was supposed to happen around 2030.

we are heading in the correct direction for battery prices to drop farther which would potentially make SSB less expensive.

Its been speculated that Scout will be using batteries built by VW’s Joint Venture Called PowerCo. The batteries would be made in St. Thomas, Canada at PowerCo’s new facility in 2027(same year Production is projected to start).

From what the website shows these batteries cells seem to be modular by their architecture of being blocks with a connector on each side. Which in the long run would seem to make battery replacements cheaper from less work need to build a pack.

I may be wrong, but I believe that would eliminate the Scout from taking advantage of the federal tax credits due to the % of materials being made outside of the continental US. Plus, since SSB are new technology, it seems as though that may raise the price significantly. With the cost of Lithium configurations dropping exponentially each year, we could see a cost to the manufacturer of less than $40 or even $30 per kwh by 2027. That would make battery replacement under $4K for 100kwh battery. Last I heard, LG is producing a Lithium Ion pack for $56 a kwh...which is incredibly inexpensive.

As on what Jamie has said the Price is pretty much set at starting at 50k. And Scouts is 80% made with USA materials which would probably allow them to take advantage of the Tax Credit.

Good point, but I am sure many will still want the extra buffer/sense of security of having the harvester. 500 miles EV only is fantastic, but if you can add harvester and have 700 miles that is even better IMO.
I think only current non-EV owners would want the harvester at that point. Lucid is producing 520 miles of range on a 112 kWh battery pack. In my opinion, with the use of the Tesla SC network, anything over 400 is plenty. That's over 4 hrs of hwy driving. A guys gotta pee at some point.

You have to also remember that LUCID is very aero dynamic so 520miles is easy.

More people might be willing to forgo Harvester with solid state batteries, but I think there are plenty of people for comfort/anxiety who still wouldn't be comfortable without the Harvester.

I would still require the Harvester since I tow out to West Texas where there may not be a charger within range, that is functional, not ICEd, and wouldn't require me to unhitch.

With the likely cancelation of the EV tax credit, I think a powerful Harvester and a small cheap battery makes even more sense.
I'm betting Pres Musk will let the govt keep subsidizing Tesla purchases/leases. But he may eliminate the lease loophole for imports

Dropping fast. Estimates were around $145-155 per kWh in the last year or two but the latest is putting them closer to $115. By the time Scout has to source them, I'd expect them to be well under $100 kWh. I doubt SSBs will be ready by then, but perhaps for a mid-cycle refresh around 2030.

Well, not "easy" but I understand your point. Of course, aerodynamics makes a difference. The Model Y is the most aerodynamic car on the road and new they are getting 320ish out of a 75kWh LIO battery. I'm just saying that if they are squeezing 520 out of LIO batteries then if Scout can produce a SSD battery that gets 400, that's plenty. The range extender would be nice to have for a long trip, but completely unnecessary for many potential buyers, especially if they are current EV owners of anything not named Lucid. I'm down to about 289 in my 2022 Tesla MY, which is plenty for 90+% of my driving. But 400 would be great, even with the Harvester.
