I didn't see it mentioned...just assuming the heating and AC will be via heat pump?... maybe with some resistive heat back up for the really cold climates.

I think that makes a big difference for battery life and range. Tesla uses heat pumps and are more efficient in winter months. Ford was using resistive heating elements I believe when F150 Lightning users saw horrible range drops in the winter. I never looked into it though. Could be wrong.

Heat pump definitely needed. They use anywhere from 2-4x less power to run the heat in an EV.

And I'd be shocked to see a 2027 EV without one.

I would be shocked if we don’t see Elastocaloric Heat/Cooling instead of heat pumps, it way more efficient, most likely cheaper, And by 2027 we will probably see them replacing heat pumps.

Interesting, this is new to me. It seems as though elastocaloric would have limitations based on ambient temp?…like heat pumps. When the temps get really low the heat pumps can have trouble keeping up, so some resistive back up would be nice, even though it is less efficient.

everyone knows a heat pump is more efficient, especially during colder weather. Scout would be wise to implement one, if they haven't already, into their design.
