So as I read through the forum, I keep reading people using the word “Harvester” like I am supposed to know what that is. I know of the old Scout Harvester, but people are talking like there’s some new model coming out with that name. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about it. I tried searching the Internet for it and I’m just not finding it. I only know of the modern Scout Terra and the Scout Traveler. Could someone please enlighten me? I would greatly appreciate it!

In short, Harvester model is the one that will be powered by EV battery + a gasoline engine range extender.

All the official released info/details/specs on the Harvester model is here:

And here's a whole forum subsection discussing the Harvester model:

Hope that helps

oh I see thanks!!! So it’s not officially called harvester by Scout motors, so it’s a nickname that a scout enthusiast came up with for the extended range version. Got it now thanks.

It's not just a nickname. Harvester is what Scout is calling the gas range extender option. This is directly from the Scout press release that I linked above:

Extended Range Electric Vehicle
From the start, Scout Motors was established as a company that listens to and is guided by consumers. As the shift to electric vehicles accelerates and the mass market more seriously considers electric vehicle adoption, some U.S. drivers have expressed concerns about the ability to recharge while on the road.
Scout Motors listened. The Scout Traveler and Scout Terra will offer an optional extended range electric vehicle (EREV) energy system, called Harvester™. A proprietary Scout EREV energy system will unlock freedom on the road while still delivering off-road capability. With a small internal combustion engine added to the energy system, the gas-powered engine will recharge the vehicle’s high voltage battery, extending the range to more than an estimated 500 miles2 while maintaining the electric drive system’s instant response and off-road performance.
With the option to refuel anywhere you can find a pump or a plug, all while maintaining the packaging and performance benefits of an electric vehicle, the Harvester energy system will deliver the benefits customers want in a lifestyle that works for them.

What really amazed me, and amazed and blindsided Out of Spec You Tube channel is how much range IC generators put on EVs for so little fuel used.

This efficiently going to be interesting with the Harvester.

Well, if the harvester gets a 20 gallon tank and adds 350 miles of range as they’ve said it would, then it’ll get 17.5 mpg on gas, which is several mpg below what a truck like the scout would get with say a modern turbo six. Even my Defender beast does better. Converting energy from gas through a generator to an EV motor plus all the added weight of two systems exacts a price on efficiency. The Harvester is about convenience not efficiency.

Good take but,,,,,
Scouts estimates are super conservative.
They have to be to prevent customer kick back over exaggerated estimates. Publicity they don't need.

Look at the drama Musk goes through with his wild claims before a product becomes a reality. He doesn't care.

GM EV's are mostly getting much better numbers than GM claimed.

Scout is also holding their cards close to it's chest.

It’s just physics. You lose energy transitioning from gas to electricity to kinetic energy all while adding weight. Scout has yet to say anything about efficiency, but it’s guaranteed that the harvester will not be a very efficient way to drive. Again, it’s not meant to be. It’s about convenience, and giving people the possibility to drive efficiently on EV for most short trips. Driving on the harvester all the time will be quite inefficient even compared to an ice car.

A gallon of gas in my generator put over 102 miles range indicated on our EV6. That is efficiency.
But keeping it real:
Not driving in ECO mode nor low and slow in practicality it'll give us 70 to 80 miles driving normally.

100% Charging with the house power at 115V/15 AMP gives us 310 miles range indicated, 271 in reality.

Charging with house power at 240 Volt / 48 AMP to 100% would usually give us 274 miles range indicated, and that is 274 miles range with the wife driving, 230 + miles range with me driving on a mild day.

Hope the Harvester has Heat pump cooling and heating.

We have frequent power black outs here.
Though we can charge on our solar/power bank it pulls a lot of draw.
So it's why I have a standby generator.

Works so good I don't need anything else.
But having said I don't need it, I'll immediately go out and buy the HF 11500 240V/NEMA 14 50 as soon as it arrives.

Should be able to charge at 240 V / 32 amps.

On generators even though they have a 50 AMP NEMA 14 50 receptacle, doesn't mean they will deliver 50 AMPS.
The receptacle application is good for up to 50 AMPs.
240V is ideal.

The challenge with the harvester is getting that kind of efficiency out of a generator that is sized to replace energy as fast as it’s used. Your generator didn’t have to do that. Very different scenarios. I could attach the tiniest generator to charge an EV but it would take forever and is in no way relevant to what’s going to be required from the harvester while driving. Lots of magical wishing in these threads. Trains use this system for consistent torque, not efficiency.
