At this point, my Traveler with the Harvester option might not be the best option for me. Should I reserve both or would it best to wait and change it at confirmation time should I desire the non-Harvester option?

From the reservation FAQ:

"Yes, you can change your vehicle selection on your reservation anytime by signing into your account. Making this change will not impact your place in the queue, but it may impact your delivery timing depending on the options you select."

So it sounds like you'll be able to change it anytime (i.e. later when it comes to actual ordering time), unless they impose some earlier lock-in date.

But if it gives you comfort, just put down another $100, it's refundable anyway.

This is good to know and I’m comfortable with this as stated.

I did.. my wife hates it.. but my Rivian R1S will be 6 years old by the time this arrives... so why not... fully refundable. I have a pre-order for the Rivian R2 as well just in case.

So many people doubled and tripled up with the Bronco lauch, it screwed fellow early reservationists. I think there is enough known now about the Harvester line to make go no go decision. Either a max range of 350 miles and a 15 to 30-minute recharge to 80% recovery at a DCFC station is good enough for the BEV version, or you need the ICE-generator version with more refueling choices. The max 350 mile range and shortest charging speeds are temperature dependent, as they are for any EV.
The biggest unknown for me is the EV range for model with the Harvester.

I was wondering if folks here were also considering the R2.

So much can change on the needs of your family in 3 to 4 years.... I have the R2 reserved just to see if we will want it when it arrives. Thats what I did when I reserved the R1S 3 years before I actually got it. Who knows. and its a $100 refundable deposit.

Scout has stated 150 mile EV only range before the generator starts. Again, that's a warm weather spec; usually mid 70's deg. F.

If you have concerns regarding range of either the BEV or EREV model, maybe an EV in general is not your best choice?
I have an EV now. No worries about range. Was just hoping the hybrid would have a longer EV only range. I will likely switch to the battery only version but I'm going to wait a bit I think.

That means the engine will be on for 350 miles if you go to max proposed limit of 500 miles. Gas consumption will be 70% of your fuel bill should you tend to drive to max range often. Since I prefer to use electricity more than gas, I do believe the full EV is a better option for me. Are we certain that the hybrid range is only 150 miles (less than half of the EV-only model)? Thanks for all the info though, very helpful.

I also have pre-orders for both Rivian R2 and Scout Traveler. At some point the Rivian R3 and R3X are also going to be available for pre-order and I might do the same with the R3X if the details align well with my needs and wants.

I couldn’t find any info on the R2 when I went to Rivian’s site other than a few photos.

I placed orders for both models because I'm not sure what I'll want when the time comes. Nice to know you can change at any point though.
