Here's the amount of reservations so far, its probably bigger but this is what was given out by Oliver Blume CEO of VW leading investor of Scout Motors.

VW’s Scout has more than 50,000 reservations for upcoming EVs
Scout Motors has received more than 50,000 refundable reservation deposits for its first electric pickups and SUVs, according to Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume.
Scout CEO Scott Keogh said during a separate interview at CES that the reservations have exceeded the company’s expectations. He said about 70% of the reservations have been for the Traveler SUV, in line with company expectations.
Keogh declined to disclose the breakdown between reservations for the all-electric and EREV models.
“We’re super happy with the numbers,” Keogh told CNBC. “There’s been good reaction to the EREV.”

5 million dollar cash inflow isn’t bad for the first month.
It probably covered the cost for CES and the Reveal event. And plus what ever interest they collect from it sitting in the bank over the next 2 years while they get more reservations. Which i believe CES will help with getting more reservations.

Just for perspective Tesla when they released the Model S in 2009 they received 500ish reservations in a week. Scout had more than that in a week.

I think the competition for Scout Terra is going to be the Ramcharger. If Ram is able to put that truck in production this summer, by mid 2027 it’s going to be selling with 15k discounts, putting it under the Terra. I can see people going with it, as Ram has dealers and service departments everywhere.

Rams aren't the pinnacle of reliability they have big screens but that doesn't get the family to the picnic if it's not running not a fan of Ram or any Mopar product.

If Ram can execute it correctly. They already are doing a limited run to see how it goes. Personally Ram drivers are Gas guys and it would be very hard for them to make their customers change.

Owned a commercial construction company we had fleet of 6 - 3/4 ton pick ups replaced every 3 yrs keep in mind these were out of warranty in 16 to 20 months due to mileage. Over the time frame of 14 yrs service cost as follows for 3 yr terms ( Ram 66,000 dollars for 6 vehicles) GM ( 39,700) ) Ford ( 47,000 ) from 2010 to 2024 Rams had more engine related issues than any of the major brands Real-time data from real people

I can believe it. I have a uncle who sold his Ram 1500 Hemi 2008, maybe 4years ago, it was rusting out but his friend bought it from him to fix and keep, my uncle spent around 5k to rebuild its engine, he lifted it and put a bigger tire on it nothing too dramatic. But what made him sell it was the ride quality and the fact that everything was made of hard plastic, and its engine ran like crap. He now drives a Chevy Silverado 2500 he likes it more than his Ram since it drives smoother and its engine runs better.

Added for context:
"The $5,000 reservation fee is refundable"
"Tesla also is taking reservations for the Model S Signature Edition with a $40,000 reservation fee"

Not sure what the exact breakdown was, but it's much different than a $100 refundable deposit with Scout.

I have a deposit for a Ramcharger also, and the 3.6l they're using is super reliable. This could be the best version of the Ram coming and there's a built in third party support for the chassis and suspension from the beginning.

Then the Scout was debuted.....and I'm no longer interested in the Ramcharger. The suspension is already what I would have done. The interior and exterior are beautiful, and it's got Rivian quality behind it. I just need to figure out what the camping situation is going to be with it and I think the Terra will be as close to perfect out of the box as anyone could hope for. Now I just need to figure out how to get my $100 back from stellantis.
