Thanks for the info I am active duty USCG just 2 more years and I'll finish my 20 should be retired from the USCG right before TERRAS's and TRAVELERS will be coming out in 2027. I was on a cutter in Oahu 2008-2010 really enjoyed my time in the Islands Maui and Kauai are amazing as well.Even while Scout will be marketed to North America, the laws very substantially as you mentioned.
example: Honolulu, HI fines $297 per window that is tinted beyond legal, that means the corner window and side windows that don’t even roll down in some vehicles, could be a $2,376 total fine…..for tint.
Scout can’t legally go darker than what national standards mandate them, but there are plenty of lifetime warranty window film/tint installers, but its basically 2025…..and quality film with install prices are $700ish for a full vehicle. It’s film that has strong adhesive that will never bubble like $100 tint would, and some brands can reject 90+% incoming heat…..not UV (as even plain OEM glass rejects most all UV)
There isn’t a real function to need to go darker than 70% other than cosmetic, or privacy.
Being retired military I have lived in many countries and major cities, so newer CLEAR heat rejection films, don’t get me in trouble every 2-3 years I have historically moved.
Also Scout is marketed towards people that “can” go very off-road with no city lights, and even mildly dark films would impede safety quite substantially
I’ll likely use 3M Crystalline, Llumar Air, or other lifetime warranty film.
