Its been speculated that Scout will be using batteries built by VW’s Joint Venture Called PowerCo. The batteries would be made in St. Thomas, Canada at PowerCo’s new facility in 2027(same year Production is projected to start).

From what the website shows these batteries cells seem to be modular by their architecture of being blocks with a connector on each side. Which in the long run would seem to make battery replacements cheaper from less work need to build a pack.

PowerCo is supposed to be producing QuatumScape solid state batteries, hope they come to fruitation, then you don't need the harvester option, cause you'll be able to get 500+ mileage with the SSB itself.

More people might be willing to forgo Harvester with solid state batteries, but I think there are plenty of people for comfort/anxiety who still wouldn't be comfortable without the Harvester.

I would still require the Harvester since I tow out to West Texas where there may not be a charger within range, that is functional, not ICEd, and wouldn't require me to unhitch.

With the likely cancelation of the EV tax credit, I think a powerful Harvester and a small cheap battery makes even more sense.

I think they are gonna use Quatum Scape in the Harvester since it’s a smaller battery pack.

and the FullEV will have the other battery type option that PowerCo makes

I'm down for Quantum Scape and Harvester if that actually happens.

I wish I had more patience- this wait along with the unknowns are going to have me checking forums every day for three years.

Plenty of chargers out here with one planned at home as well, but I go to AZ, NM, and west Texas in winter and also to off road, so the Harvester s a must, only reason I haven't gone EV so far.

QS will surely come at a premium so I'd be surprised if it's combined with harvester. I could see them using the cheapest battery available (LFP) in harvester models. Though that would be a harder sell in locations with cold winters.

QS may not even be available at launch. I think it's more likely that 3 variations of PowerCo batteries are available, at least eventually and that the QS variant will be an option provided at a premium. I'm thinking that will likely provide about 390mi of range instead of 350. It's a stepping stone to better things.

If it had bi-directional and a much higher rated number of cycles, I think it would be well worth it though to pay more for the QS variant.

Though if Scout goes à la carte with its options, perhaps you'll be able to select whatever battery chemistry you want from PowerCo regardless whether harvester or not.

Solid State Batteries (if available) will have an almost unlimited charge life cycle, also the charge time from from 20>80% is much lower than other battery chemistries, around 10-15 minutes if the charger supports that high charge rate. To me those are the main advantage over LFP or LEPOF4 chemistry.

And they are less prone to fires.

I definitely have a gut feeling that we might see them debut before Scouts hit the road. Only because PowerCo and QuantumScape have already partnered and I'm sure testing has probably already started being done by them. Remember we gave a whole year before we find out all the details of battery and motor specs. It already blowing other batteries out of the water with its testing. I would be shocked if they don't go with Soild State

Good point, but I am sure many will still want the extra buffer/sense of security of having the harvester. 500 miles EV only is fantastic, but if you can add harvester and have 700 miles that is even better IMO.

I’ll be getting the Harveter option, simply because it was a wake up call after Hurricane Helene left us with no power close to a week.

The Harvester for me will be a range extender, likely better resale, and my generator for major storms that leave areas without power.
