Is Scout dead in the water? I'm not buying it at a 10-25% tariff added cost.

First year teacher salary in North Texas is universally $60k. I have to pay my accounting clerk $22 an hour to stay competitive and that is an entry level clerical job (comes out to right at $46k annually).

My point is that $45,000 isn't going to be the average of an assembly line worker. I believe that Toyota is offering its line assembly workers starting pay of $22.12/an hour. So, I think your numbers are right for workers with zero or limited experience on production assembly. They will need experienced people as well, who will get more (Toyota SA pays around $63k as max for line). I think the average will be between those two figures, with the number being below the median as lots of their workers will be brand new likely.
VW in Chatt pays around $23/hour for no experience/high school grad now, but that will be going up at least 14% since that was their initial offer to the UAW after the vote last year. Pretty safe to bet Scout will be in line with whatever VW and the UAW settle on for their contract. I’d guess closer to $30/hr by SOP.

That sounds about right. That would mean most line workers at Scout would be paid between $55k and $75k annually. Yes, these prices will be reflected in the trucks, just like they have been in F150s. I have always assumed that a well equipped Traveler will be at least $65k before tax credits.

From how it sounded at the groundbreaking for the interstate ramp, it sounds like they might not be going the UAW route at the start.

I assuming that they won't and I imagine that is one of the reason they are in South Carolina as a right to work state. However, they are going to have to get some experienced production workers into a brand new production line. They can't all be rookies. They are going to have to offer competitive pay. There is a boatload of savings on the pension/healthcare side from going non-union, even if they match union wages.

I agree.
My Brother in law lives in the factories SC area and the work ethic culture is good and plenty of eager people that want those jobs.

The economy is starting to tank around these parts, no one is hiring, lots of big companies letting people go.
My point:
It's a employment cancer that in the past, usually metastasizes from here to across the USA.
Scout will be good to go.

Thats Tennessee different laws.
UAW contract with VW isn’t state specific, so the state doesn’t have anything to do with it. Scout will try to use the “different company” approach, but they will have a fight on their hands. UAW is desperate to add new members and will likely be in SC organizing before VW hires the first line employee.

It was more or less just a guess on what it would be between say the level of cleaners pay and everything between them and the CEO.

Is right-to-work the same as fire-at-will if said in the same breath?
Nevada is fire at will.
