VW in Chatt pays around $23/hour for no experience/high school grad now, but that will be going up at least 14% since that was their initial offer to the UAW after the vote last year. Pretty safe to bet Scout will be in line with whatever VW and the UAW settle on for their contract. I’d guess closer to $30/hr by SOP.First year teacher salary in North Texas is universally $60k. I have to pay my accounting clerk $22 an hour to stay competitive and that is an entry level clerical job (comes out to right at $46k annually).
My point is that $45,000 isn't going to be the average of an assembly line worker. I believe that Toyota is offering its line assembly workers starting pay of $22.12/an hour. So, I think your numbers are right for workers with zero or limited experience on production assembly. They will need experienced people as well, who will get more (Toyota SA pays around $63k as max for line). I think the average will be between those two figures, with the number being below the median as lots of their workers will be brand new likely.
