UPDATE 11/1/24

Scout Traveler SUV Dimensions Update Directly From Scout:
We have updated the dimensions [graphic] of the concept vehicles on our website to be clearer. I would only add that while these concepts are 85-90% accurate, there could be minor changes with the production models (different side mirror designs, overall height that varies with wheel and suspension setup, etc.,etc.).
Notice that the mirrors are now drawn to scale and stick out past the body.

Scout Terra Pickup
Length: 229.2 in
Width Without Mirrors 79.9 in
Width With Mirrors 91.6 in
Max Height: 77.7 in
Wheelbase: 148.6 in
Max Ground Clearance: 12+ in
Bed Length: 66 in (5.5 ft)
Cab to Bumper: 71.7 in
Offered Tire Size: 35 in

BTW, Scout confirmed that the width dimension does include mirrors.

79.9 without mirrors.

Note: Something to keep in mind -- Scout reps said that the vehicles shown at the reveal at 85% reality and 15% fantasy. So it's possible that dimensions and size are still subject to change for the production 2027 Scout Traveler SUV and Terrain Pickup Truck.

Scout seems to be like the space between the Hummer EV and Lightning.

Not as crazy as the Hummer, but little longer and nicer. Yet not as big as the Lightning, but more sporty and off road capable.

Rivian is more of a "luxury sport truck" in it's more performance oriented versions, and or a suburbanite midsize EV Ranger weekend camping ute.

The hummer looks bigger than it is. I didn’t realize it is the same as the R1T. Goes to show what body styling does to the look of size.

Wow that's big. From the reveal it did not look that big to me. Probably too big for my needs. :-( But it's probably the right market segment to target for a start.

I would be happier if the Terra were a bit shorter, and I’ll explain the specific reason why...

I manage a large forestry/conservation project on my land, maintaining miles of drivable trails across varied rough terrain (steep slopes, swamp edges, stream crossings, boulders to cross, etc.).

Some of these trails have 90-degree turns or less. Other times, I may get in a jam where I need to turn around completely, which typically involves backing up until I can find enough of a clearing to do so.

My current work vehicle (AEV Brute Double Cab, a custom precursor to the Gladiator, 3.5" lift on aggressive 37 mud tires) is 216 inches long. That is already a bit long for my purposes, but it has been great having a pickup with lots of ground clearance and differentials.

Extending that to 229 inches—14 inches more—makes things that much more uncomfortable out on my trails.

Before commissioning the Brute, I was using the cheapest Mercedes G500 I could find (2003 model, 130K miles on it when I bought it used for $20K). Those things are absolute beasts off-road, even though most Gwagen owners never use them for their original purpose. They are also a *lot* shorter than most pickups—mine was 185". I only gave it up because I really needed a pickup instead...

Long story short, I don’t expect my EV pickup to be 185" long, but 229" is pushing it. Would be much happier around 212-220".

I think the Rivian R1T is 217" so that might work for you. I know they're expensive but maybe there are some reasonable used deals available, especially when the Terras become available and more of the Rivians get traded in.

there will be a lot of used R1Ts available by then. But and it’s a big but, as an owner of one, I wouldn’t ever own one of these out of warranty. They are very complex vehicles with a limited service center network. While right now everything is within warranty, if I was out of warranty I would have racked over 10K of service fees. That’s in the first year of ownership.

I'm pretty happy with the size. MY R1T is smaller and sportier than a Lightning but I'd trade that for more bed space and rear seat room. Scout seems to split the difference, I'll miss the occasional use of the gear tunnel but I'd rather have more useable cabin space.

No factory winch option is a dealbreaker for me with Rivian. They seem more aimed at lifestyle weekend warriors.

I have been thinking the same. Have you seen any interior dimensions? My only real regret with my R1T (coming from a raptor) is the interior shoulder width.
