Uhh, did people hear what he said? That he is close buddies from college with the Scout designer? This is the opposite of an objective review. Interesting to hear from him, but his bias is massive.
Thanks for that detail.
Question: Say theoretically you are out in the wilderness and manage to completely deplete both the batteries and the gas generator.
Could you fill up the engine with gas from a can, and just take off again? Or would the generator have to run a whole to first charge up...
The projected release of the Scout with hope puts some pressure on other companies to speed up their plans.
EV Gladiators, Broncos, Tacomas and others are slow to emerge. But maybe this lights a fire under Jeep, Ford, Toyota et al. to produce a more nimble and slightly smaller EV pickup. Also...
If I were towing/hauling a lot, I'd have to spring for a Lightning or one of the other big trucks coming out.
But towing capacity does not matter much to me though I am not one of the above-mentioned hipsters who wants a Scount just to make a small campfire and roast marshmallows a couple times...
To my eyes the Rivian exterior looks like any generic American small pickup from 20 years ago, and not in a good way.
As far as design constraints from safety regs...If the Cybertruck and electric Hummer got through (ugh to both looks), I think a lot more character is possible.
Look at some...
Some things which I think do help differentiate the Terra so far:
* Bench seat. Love it.
* Factory winch. The absence of this option is the main reason I can't even consider Rivian.
* The approach angles seem very good, or at least comparable to some custom Jeeps.
* The supplementary...
With my Toyota BZ4x, the range has been substantially lower in winter when the heater is on.
In mild weather I've gotten up as high as 280 miles range, but in very cold weather that is more like 180-200.
220-230 is about average overall.
The A/C doesn't seem to draw nearly as much power as...
I would be happier if the Terra were a bit shorter, and I’ll explain the specific reason why...
I manage a large forestry/conservation project on my land, maintaining miles of drivable trails across varied rough terrain (steep slopes, swamp edges, stream crossings, boulders to cross, etc.)...
At some point they are going to have to go beyond the nostalgia messaging and differentiate the Scout from other EV trucks which will hit the market in or before 2027.
