Official specs released so far don't show cargo area dimensions. Anyone care to rough estimate it based on the dimensions drawings published so far?

I did some math based on the cargo capacity of related vehicles. I came up with around 46.1 cu feet, but it is anyone's guess.

Good idea. Which vehicles did you use to estimate?

Now I get to nerd out. So I took the width and length of the following vehicles:

  • Honda Pilot Trailsport
  • Chevy Traverse Z71
  • Chevy Tahoe RST
  • Toyota Land Cruiser
  • Toyota 4Runner
  • Kia Telluride
  • Toyota GH Hybrid (Max)
  • Toyota Sequoia
  • Rivian R1S
  • Subaru Outback
  • Tesla Model Y
  • Toyota Rav 4 Prime
  • Hyundai Tuscon - Plugin
  • Toyota Highlander
  • Volvo XC90
  • Toyota 4Runner 2024
  • Subaru Solterra
  • Toyota Hybrid Highlander
  • Kia EV6
  • Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
  • Genesis GV60
I averaged their length and width separately and then divided them by the Scout's dimensions to reach a percentage of the mean. The Scout is 99.05% as long as the average and 100.36% longer than the average; I then averaged those two numbers (.9971) and multiplied that by the average storage capacity of the vehicles above.

I am hoping it's 3 dogs wide, and 3 dogs long plus cooler. I will be happy.

That number seems low. Can you remove the following cars from your analysis and see if the number jumps up?
1. Subaru Outback
2. Tesla Model Y
3. Subaru Cross Trek Hybrid

These are all smaller then the rest of the segment and seem like outliers in the data set. I would expect the number to increase once these are removed.

Edit:
On second thought, and after looking at more pictures of the Traveler cargo area, maybe the smaller vehicles are helping balance out the data set. Your 46.7 estimate may be pretty close. Now can you run the calc with the seats folded down? :)

Hah I knew I was in the right place with fellow nerds geeking out on our future Scouts! Impressed by the thought that went into your cargo area estimate, thanks for sharing your data.

I am thinking the Scout is more the sized of the 2025 Tahoe - so I am betting a little larger, 60-70cu ft.

New here…hi!

I uploaded a bunch of photos of the Travelers into ChatGPT (exterior, cargo area, wide angles with people and backgrounds, etc) as well as the known dimensions announced by Scout. I also asked it to consider known dimensions of existing vehicles (exterior and cargo) and to take into account the fact this is an ev with a solid rear axle. It crunched the numbers on the photos first then layered in the other vehicles’ dimensions. It came up with:
  • Cargo Length (usable): ~37.4 inches
  • Cargo Height: ~49.6 inches
  • Cargo Width: ~69.5 inches
  • Cargo Volume: ~74.6 cubic feet

Smart to use AI to see what it'd come up with. What does everyone think of how accurate these dimensions / volume might be?
