Are you still a Scout buyer without $7500 EV tax credit?

No surprise the new administration is going to try to kill this. Also no surprise is Elmo supporting it. He knows this will hurt other manufacturers way more than Tesla, especially those like Lucid, Rivian, and Scout and to a lesser degree legacy automakers.

At least Scout is a couple of years away from production but if the tax credit is gone then, it will definitely impact some customers from buying a Scout.

And for those arguing that we should remove the EV tax credit, ICE manufacturers and oil companies have gotten incentives/credits for decades in some form or another so its not really unique to EVs.

Tariffs are likely coming which we know will impact costs of good/parts. Somehow I have a hunch this won't impact Tesla much either. If you think it will be implemented evenly and fairly across all auto manufacturers you are living in a fantasy world, its going to hurt other companies way more (unless somehow they figure out how to get on DT's side).

Not trying to be political here. I hate politics, on both sides of the aisle. Just trying to read the tea leaves and share my glass-half-empty opinion on where things might head with the new administration. Sad to see the EV momentum of the past 10-12 years potentially get lost. even if you didnt qualify for the tax credit before, its about the entire EV industry being impacted - all boats rise/fall with the tide.

I'm with you... gonna be a sad day once the tax credit is revoked. There's only one way Rivian and Lucid can deal with it and it's lower production costs while raise profits,. Unfortunately this takes time and scaling up, which they may run out of time to reach.

At least Scout has VW's manufacturing expertise to help it achieve lowest production costs possible when setting up the production plant and process. But all car manufacturers will be subject to cost of higher goods and materials, which even the most vertically integrated manufacturing process can't avoid affecting the bottom line.

The sad macro perspective is that this will hurt American EV companies hard. Companies that help stimulate the economy, hire local workers and help ward off foreign EV competitors.

I am not convinced the credit will go away but regardless the cost of vehicles has been spiraling out of control for a while.

Incentive or not, Scout has created the first EV or in my case Series Hybrid, that I have ever considered owning.

You don't need mandates and giveaways, you need to make an affordable vehicle people actually WANT to buy - and I think Scout is on the right path here.

My decision to buy the Scout with or without a tax credit will depend on the finished product. If the Harvester is well thought-out, my desired options are available, and the price is under 6 figures, I'm still interested. A lot can happen in 2-3 years. I try not to worry about things I can't control.

Hybrids do qualify for the tax credit depending on the vehicle, credits are in the range of $3,750-$7,500.

But like this thread brought up could the tax credits be taken away in the future 2026 maybe 2027?

I will definitely still be a buyer for the SCOUT TERRA even without the tax credit. Seems like the TERRA is a little more expensive than the TRAVELER. The only MUST have accessory I will be getting is the MOON roof and possibly the front bench seat. According to SCOUT motors some models will start as low as $51,500 but more likely it will be around $60,000. I expect the moon roof to be maybe a $5K increase so if I can stay around $65K for the TERRA I'm all in.

Brings up customization questions though. Are the 35" tires going to be factory or is that an upgrade. Will certain interior leather options or certain paint colors be an upgrade?

How much will a bench seat upgrade be?

How much will the HARVESTER add on be?

Lots of questions will be answered in the 12-18 months looking forward to it.

But still so happy SCOUT is doing direct consumer sales no BS markups dealing with DAMN dealerships.

Yeah i agree with that the Tax wont be going away. And with you saying that buying parts here will keep tariffs out. Which it seems scout has already has them selfs in a good situation with sourcing 80% of parts in the USA.

The reason i see that he wont get rid of it is because he know how expensive they are. And his big thing is getting rid if the 2030-35 ALL EV ONLY CARS. Which is right because EVs aren't for everyone. It shouldn’t be forced upon you that you have to own a EV

Tax credit may go away if the battery production is outside North America or it's friendly ally countries.

My Ford BEV got $7500 in 2022 but only half credit for my 2023 Mach E due to the changing rules every year tightening the requirements...

Scout will also have lower production costs than the full-EV only companies if take rates really end up being 80%+ Harvester EREV models. The Harvester will have a smaller battery paired with ICE engine generator so its overall cost should be less than the full-EV with a much larger battery pack. In theory, Scout will be able to offer the Harvester model at a more enticing price than competitors... and every bit matters if the tax credit goes away.

It has been reported that the new president plans to do away with the EV credit, if this happens will you fork over the extra $7500 or take a pass? I guess for me it depends on the final price announced by Scout Motors down the road, but $60K is pretty much as high as I will go.

President-elect Donald Trump is already drawing up plans to kill the $7,500 EV tax credit when he assumes office, Reuters reported on Thursday. We can't say we're surprised.​

I think he will allow the tax. Credit to only made in America Ev’s. For the same reason for the tariffs it’s to stop Chinese Ev’s that have tendency to blow up to come in at ultra low prices that will also hurt the US economy.

I'm also talking with Jamie about this exact situation at the moment will update when he gets back.

I agree let’s stop politics here what happens happens personally I love the election outcome, i think this is gonna be huge for the American car industry. (Not a Political statement at all just my opinion and thoughts)

Hate to say it but most likely the trim levels that will be offered right out of the gate would not qualify in the first place. I’m anticipating that for at least my house it will be a $80k rig and will be over the limit for the ev tax credit guidelines.

The credits are nice, I got two MYPs last year and two full credits.
