150 miles on battery only seems like sweet spot for daily driving for most people, though thats impacted by the battery chemistry. if its LFP then you'll be able to charge it fully to 100% daily without much worry about battery degradation. if its NMC, then ideally you want to keep the state of charge between 20-80%, which means real world you'll get ~110 miles of range before needing a charge. for cold weather folks, this may not be a sweet spot though as we know the battery range is going to reduce range quite a bit. for those who want to run battery only daily this is going to matter, for those who dont care, it wont.

i suspect the size/range of the battery is going to be dependent on how the EREV works. lets say youre road tripping. what we know is the EREV model will get 500 miles of range but does that mean you can get that continuously? can i drive 500 miles in one shot without refueling or charging? if the answer is yes, then it might be fine as is. if the answer is no, then either they need to increase the battery or increase the speed at which the engine charges the battery.

many unanswered questions.

To keep adding a larger battery does not seem elegant to me. I’m all for the generator. Hoping I can use the car just like an ice car. I had a Chevy Volt and once the novelty of charging wore off after two months, I just put gas in it and never plugged it in for the remainder of ownership.

I hope the generator can keep up with the demands of the car and there are no compromises.
Why bother with an EREV then at all? You’ll get better mpg out of a comparable ICE vehicle that doesn’t have to lug around a battery, and the battery manufacturing process means you’ll have a higher up front carbon footprint as well. Plug in hybrid’s and EREV’s make no sense if you never plug them in.

yet you’ll have people attacking you saying that there are no trails that long eventually. From people who have never been off-roading, hunting, fishing.

My use is mainly for fishing and then it’s also gonna be the daily driver for work commute.
Alaska is a special case, has poor charging infrastructure, and not at all like the driving 99.8% of people do in the lower 48.

I’m glad Scout confirmed to me that I can change more Traveler Harvester order to the EV only when I get to the build option because 150 miles is not what I thought and had it reversed. Also, we currently have a plug-in hybrid Volvo that gets 32 miles range (AKA 20 real miles) and find we really kick on the engine. We get warnings of old gas, and I imagine 150 mile range will meet 80% or more users so will old gas be an issue as well? For me, no overlanding, and the ability to use Tesla’s charging network, 350 miles (AKA 230 likely) is just fine so long as you deliver on the 0-60 and torque!

With current battery tech in production for a vehicle in Scout’s price range, the batteries are heavy.

The Harvester option, as presently envisioned, will be lighter which would be better especially for off-road since it would be half the battery weight at ~900# Instead of ~1800#.

Maybe the generator and fuel tank would weigh 900# anyway… who knows.

Best scenario is battery energy density doubles and you have a 900# battery with 120kWh AND a backup generator.
