Did some heavy lifting yesterday, moving 55-gallon drums with a forklift onto an F150 and a ping pong table/air hockey table into my RAM 1500. It got me thinking about features the Scout should have:

1- Traditional Tailgate: The standard tailgate really got in the way when trying to load those drums. Had to wrestle the pallet in because the forks couldn't reach far enough with the gate down. It's the same story with any heavy load – you end up resting things on the gate and then dragging them into place.

2- Tie-Down: Securing the tables made me appreciate good tie-down points. Having them high and low, and being able to move them around, is a must for long, tall loads. Gives you peace of mind knowing everything is strapped down tight.

3- Tailgate Camera: Completely forgot the backup camera is pointless with the tailgate down! A camera that still works in that configuration would be a game-changer for backing into tight spots and driveways.

I have a Ram Rebel with the split tailgate and it's a lifesaver at times for things like this. Even if they don't want to build in a split tailgate(most people don't like the look), it would be awesome if the tailgate was really easy to take off and put back on.

I like the split tailgate as well. Being stature limited, it lets me reach further into the bed. It also lets me get loads on pallets all the way into the bed with the forks on my skid steer without having to shove the pallet off the tailgate and into the bed. Taking the tailgate off is cumbersome and risks damaging it.
