I’m still keeping my reservation. I think that we need to wait for the vehicle to full be unveiled. It’s still super early for details like this when they just only recently started testing with Mule Prototype’s. Patience is key. I would say hold onto the reservations.

The video was pretty set in stone, EREV max towing 5k. That said, Jamie has already responded in a different forum that it is not set in stone.

I was slightly on the fence and went with the BEV and waiting for more information on EREV. Mostly because I thought there would be times, while towing, the EREV would open up better options. At the moment, that does not appear to be the case. So actually, the additional data just supported my original decision more. As it stands, the EREV would cost me more options than add.
---
A lot of this all depends on future information. I am curious to the exact "why" the towing capacity is 1/2'ed. If it is just because of the marketing and design decision to be about to drive at a "steady state" at 70mph. It still might be possible to tow more in dedicated max performance mode (which would require charging and refueling on trips). The real question then is what the combined range would be when towing 5k lbs+. Of course that depends on the why. If it is a limitation in the electric power train - then that limitation will exist with or without the harvester running continuously.

From everything I've seen of Scott he seems like a pretty down to earth and straight forward guy for a CEO and that's why he's a good match for Scout and what they are trying to be as a company. Because of that personality of not being like a typical sleazy CEO that only cares about the bottom line I think he's trying to be as upfront and honest as possible with the information he puts out there. If I had to guess I would say when he gives out numbers on performance they are going to be on the low end of the scale just because at this point a lot of it is hypothetical until they start getting some real life testing data. For the BEV version there's a lot of other electric vehicles out there on the road already so it's probably much easier to safely say what it will be capable of. For the EREV it's new territory with nothing currently on the road that's similar except for something like the BMW i3 Rex that couldnt drive over 40mph when running on just the range extender. Sure there have been other "hybrids" out there for years but the gas engine is mechanically connected to the drive train on those. There's the Ramcharger but that's not on the road yet and on paper it can tow as much as it can because it has a regular engine in the engine bay to power the generator. So I think Scott's approach for the numbers he gives is to under promise on performance so that they can hopefully over deliver on the final product. Most CEOs in that same interview would have just said both the BEV and EREV will have the same towing capacity (or possibly even more) and then wouldn't aknowledge when the official numbers come out before launch as being lower than initially stated.

I agree. I changed from Terra Harvester back to Terra BEV. I don't want to maintain an ICE engine, which besides saving the breathable air, was my top reason for going electric. Our Tesla is basically $0 maintenance. No oil changes, filters, engine mounts, injectors, only minimum moving parts to wear out - not like thousand of parts grinding and rubbing themselves to death and eating into my wallet. I get that some people need the Harvester, so good on ya, but I don't. Minimum towing/hauling requirement for me. I drive the Tesla from Phoenix to LA and never have charging issues, so I'm good,

Two years out I will hold tight on my reservations one for Traveller and Terra both with Harvester option. I do not feel the need to get antsy about these figures.

Ya wonder if the Gasoline version Harvester will hold it's resale value better?

Starting to think we really don't need the Harvester, and if it's almost a $10K option that may be reason enough to stick to Battery only.
I’ve been wondering on resale myself. If it follows the usual EV resale trends (bad) I’d be sorely tempted to wait for someone to unload their $80k model for $50k a year later, and feel better about someone else taking the leap of faith on initial reliability.

That said I hope they offer aggressive lease options initially. I’d be real curious about a 12mo/15k mile lease, or even a 12mo/20k lease. Something like that would probably make me gamble on a day 1 build.

From comments on this forum and on YouTube and other places, it appears that several people have changed or are planning on changing their reservation to a BEV.

I ordered a BEV on Feb 11th. At that time, I asked him if it was possible to change my reservation when more information comes out. The screenshot below was their reply. I’m just wondering if those who ordered the Harvester months ago who decide to change to the BEV will end up behind me in the delivery process. It’s a good question I think.

I firmly believe that there should be a buccees every 200 miles on every highway to alleviate this problem.
It will break me financially though…

20 miles outside of Vegas,, the business would be astronomical.

The Jay Leno segment is why I made my reservation! I’ve never been into the EV movement, but a gas engine that will recharge the battery “while” driving gave me the needed peace of mind. Hopefully, the final product will meet all our expectations…!

I hope so. I’d like to pull a Lightship RV or Pebble Flow, which each have solar panels and a large battery and motorized wheels. But I’d also like to pull a boat with it that has no battery or support motor so I need at least 7,500 lbs. of towing at a reasonable distance.

Hopefully Scout gets there. Otherwise it’s Ram charger.

I haven't changed my reservation and would not change to BEV only. One day of trying to charge my wifes model X in 20 degree weather at a gen 3 supercharger and only getting 80 miles in 2 hours conviced me that electrics for long travel are a solid no. I probably would not get the vehicle at all if the towing capacity is only 5K. I probably would stick with gas or diesel.
