Will there be an option for 4x4 air suspension leveling system, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk "Quadra-Lift" system?
When's the last time you seen her heard of a truck semi with a broken air suspension I don't think it happens that often and it's very easy fix there's always what they call liquid spring which is better ride yet we can hopeOption? Probably, but I really hope it’s limited to only the most expensive trim. I refuse to buy a vehicle with air suspension. I know there are good ones out there, but it fails MUCH more often than a coil spring setup. Personally, I’m hoping for an active setup like the Fox Raptor setup.
I have a friend that has Ram 1500 with air suspension. The suspension would fail when it got down below -20°C. The truck becomes un-drivable at this point. From what I understand, this was a known issue for Ram. Take a read through this. This article seems to cover the issue:When's the last time you seen her heard of a truck semi with a broken air suspension I don't think it happens that often and it's very easy fix there's always what they call liquid spring which is better ride yet we can hope
Good to know! I tow a boat a lot, but my 21' bay boat only weighs about 3,000lbs with trailer so suspension sag isn't much of an issue. As long as Scout uses a non-proprietary air system so replacements can be easily obtained and affordable (I'm seeing quotes for $4,000 to replace rear shocks in Rivian's), then it shouldn't be a big deal. I'm just hoping for a simple coil spring (adaptive or not) option as well.I wouldn’t buy an SUV, especially for towing, without air suspension. My camper trailer even has self leveling air. Have probably 500,000 miles on three different vehicles with air and no failures. Undeniable benefits in terms of handling and convenience are well worth the minimal risk of problems.
I owned a X5 a few years back that eventually developed the "sagging rear end." The air suspension was the problem. There's several complaints about different models with different suspension issues on BIMMERPOST.COM. This is just my opinion. I feel that some people would like to see the Scout be more BASIC, like every other EV on the market. Air suspension already exists on the Rivian. I don't know about about other air suspension systems, but I don't ever see them where I live. And any I have seen, doesn't seem to last long, and/or becomes a maintenance nightmare.
But it's a scenario like my friends Ram that makes me not want air suspension at all. It's just another thing to go wrong. The less things going on, the more reliable things should be.
Now that is an official trim level I can get behindI am getting the K.I.S.S. edition Traveler or Terra.
