Harvester Gas Engine Fuel Octane Rating

Shockingly its only 4,300rpm when generating.

Wow, yeah, I'm gonna call BS on BMW's recommendation for premium in that application. Considering my motorbike runs a 12.2 CR, redlines at just under 12K, doesn't even have a knock sensor, and calls for only 90+ octane. Unless BMW is doing something with the combustion process that really induces knock (super lean mixture, higher than normal cylinder head temps, etc), I'm just not seeing it. But I am intrigued lol.

It did have to meet the environment emissions targets. They usually run on the lean side.

It happens to be one of my favorite engine to work on because of the complexity and the uniqueness of how it runs and is tuned.

I believe it has to do with that its pressurized.

False the Battery gets us 150miles and the Harvester gets us the other 350miles. It was confirmed by Jamie from Scout.

Because LPG isnt well established. With the car industry. For Gas Grills they are.

Why on earth would a generator engine have a turbo??, not going to happen. A DC generator will have a variable speed demand governor, speed dependent on load, with a RPM limiter.

You would really hope that Scout keeps it simple with a naturally Aspirated engine but it all depends on what they get from VW.

Why does it have to be something from VW? The logical thing to do would be to get a generator package from someone like CAT or Kohler and take advantage of their existing network for service.

Well being that VW has invested billions of dollars into Scout, it would be nice to see them offer more than just money. And beside that Scout Employees have already said that the engine will be out of the VW Engine bin. It’s speculated that it will be a 3cyl or a flat 4 boxer.
And they will produce around 135kW.

While I'm sure having patience over the next two years will be tough at times, I think some of our original Scout Community forum contributors will tell you that the last two years went by surprisingly quick - and we didn't have any product to to talk about yet.

We are working on three different story/video programs right now: Rooted In Heritage, Driven By Community, and Forging The Future. These stories will tell a bit about Scout history, the Scout community, our road to production, and everything we're doing to bring the new Scout trucks to market.”

Plans can and do change. It's still several years out. Why try and build your own generator solution when you can source one from several companies that are experienced in producing them for small spaces?
