Since we're probably not getting Android Auto / Carplay...How about an analog line in?

I'm a big Carplay fan and use it daily in my Defender to navigate with Waze. But my wife's Tesla doesn't support it - as stated above. I suspect the real driver for navigation is that Tesla's nav software calculates charge state over the planned route to recommend which supercharger to stop at to recharge. Unless that functionality (including real time information on the car's remaining charge and the ability to initiate conditioning of the battery as you approach the planned supercharger stop) is somehow added to Carplay/Waze or whatever GPS app you use, there's real value in using Tesla's built-in navigation software. I probably wouldn't bother with Carplay based navigation tools in a Tesla.

So that may be what's driving Scout's approach here.

Charge state and charger recommendations are now in Apple Maps and Google Maps (when using AA)/

Interesting - the car is exchanging information with the navigation app; in my ICE vehicle it's a one-way push from phone to car. For which EVs? The only EV I've driven is our Tesla.

Today's VW/Rivian/Scout announcement seems to indicate that the software/infotainment will be tightly tied to Rivian's, and they'll probably follow Rivian's hubris into the void by not offering Android Auto and Carplay. I wish they'd address this directly, but at this point I'm not holding out much hope.

So....Can we at least solve the bluetooth problem for third party AA/CP screens and hide an analog line in somewhere? Or at least run the amp input somewhere easy to access?
I don’t think it’s a given that it won’t have it. GM electric vehicles don’t have it but Honda and Acura do which are vehicle vehicles made 100% by General motors. I’m sure the Rivian software is capable of it and VW can request whatever they want from that software agreement.

I definitely would wait until there’s an official announcement from Scout saying there won’t be that option.

I fully understand why we think it won’t, but like I said, I’m sure Rivian software is capable Rivian as a company chooses not to do it.

I am an old timer:) I do not care about Android or Apple car play, self-driving, adaptive cruise, etc. if I can get a great truck, with superior seats, and some upscale like glass roof that is all I need. I am hoping for a flexible set of options so that each person can choose what they want rather than a one size fits all package mentality.

That's nice. This topic is not for you.

I will not buy a vehicle without AA support. Full stop. Not offering it is beyond stupid. I choose what to look at, me., not the vendor.
