I've been researching ESUVs for a while...

Fell under the Tesla spell for a few years until I saw a CT in-person, got a refund for my reservation that same day...

Reserved a Lightning, got a call to come in to finalize the order then got passed by because I had a PIN from a family member and the local dealer was not about to let one of the early ones go at any kind of a reduced price...

Now I have my sights on the Traveler - I owned an '80 Scout-II diesel in the early 2000's and wish I still had it. I'm really excited about the range extender and can't wait until this whole project unfolds and am hoping the price doesn't climb out of my reach!

Good choice Steve! Cybertruck is way too out there (sci-fi) and Lightning is way too traditional.

The Traveler and Terra is a happy medium IMO in terms of design. Also provides a good mix of buttons / tactile experience with digital/electronic experience.

Agreed - I see you're from CO, miss that state too - that's where I owned my Scout, loved the mountains!

Definitely better than Teslas now! I can't figure ole Elon out so want to stay away from his products. Glad I bought a Ford Mach E now...

You're right - I never looked into them much because I didn't like the front (I know - not a good reason)...
There's a fairly critical review in Consumer Reports currently. Their main concern is how intrusive the regenerative braking system is in normal driving. That would bug me.

Understood - It's not for everyone...

I turned away from the Tesla truck after years of waiting with my deposit (not my style). I bought a Rivian and cannot be happier with the choice I made. Now for the Scout- can’t wait for my Traveler.
I also leased a GM EV1 years ago and1990’s) it was taken from me and crushed..

I would love to drive a Rivian. I really wanted one. it was such a close call between the CT and RT. I ended up with the CT because of the stainless. Now I wish I had gone with a R1. Don't use the CT like a truck except a couple times.

The R1T is an insane vehicle. Swiss army knife of vehicles. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Its not perfect but for a first time manufacturer, its legit good. If Rivian offered a range extender, I'd be all over it which is why the Traveler has now become an option for my next vehicle. Terra is a bit too big imo so would rather not replace my R1T.

Its clear Scout baselined the Terra/Traveler on the R1T/R1S. They seem to address a lot of the minor compromises/issues/annoyances of the Rivian, which is a good strategy to take. I still think BEVs are the future but based on where battery tech is now, the range extender (if it works and is executed well) makes a lot of sense and will bring more ICE-only customers.

I want both companies to succeed so I'm rooting for both.
