I’ve never tried to bring a vehicle across but if you think it’s possible, I’m certainly willing to look into it!
Just check since it would be like if someone was moving from the USA to Canada.

Glad this is an option for SC residents. Given the irony that it's built here but no resident can buy one in the state. At least this saves me a second trip out-of-state for pick up.

That is ironic. Do you know if Tesla/Rivian ever got close to being allowed to sell directly in the state? Or is the automotive dealer lobby / allegiance too strong?

This is one of the laws I believe States will be pressured to change once Musk gets into power. I think the old days of dealership-only models is running out. I'm happy about that and I hope manufacturers start pivoting now to get ready.

If flat towing becomes a real feature, I'd absolutely head to SC to pick one up. It would be a fun cross country trip!

Might be a nightmare for us Canadians trying to import it. I can easily see spending a day at the border trying to get it imported with all the certifications, taxes and duties. Too bad though, I’d definitely be up for factory pickup.
I asked you this question on another thread before seeing this, the Canadian border Officers are tough!, and some are mean, had more than a few occasions to cross and some were not fun at all.

I would love to flat tow, but think the weight would be prohibitive for my rig.

I am in Columbia, SC…..literally 20 minutes away. If you or ANYONE are within an hour, I can help with picking you up if I don’t have an obligation that day.

Please EVERYONE, don’t think it’s too big of an “ask”, I’m happy to help!
You dropped this 👑

I'm in NC and would definitely do a factory pickup especially if it saved on ridiculous delivery fees being charged these days by auto makers.

Update: this article quotes Scout as saying that factory delivery will be available at the plant!

The brand plans to open Scout Experience Centers, and the first one will open at the company’s plant in Blythewood, S.C. It is being created as the front door of the plant, Thacker said, as well as a place for customers to take delivery, a starting point for factory tours and an off-road driving experience.

Jamie, a Scout Motors employee recently confirmed that factory delivery for our Scout EVs "is something we are actively exploring. Short answer is very likely. :D"

Sounds like a great decision to me. Brands that have factory delivery programs seem to build more ownership loyalty and a community spirit in my opinion. And what better first experience with your new vehicle than to road trip home with it.

That's a ~1600 mile trip from the Scout production plant in Blythewood, SC. Perfect for a 2-3 day roadtrip home.

2 questions --
Think factory delivery will be free or charge a fee?
Will you guys be opting for factory delivery?
Let's temper the excitement with reality.

Scout is launching in 16 metros. If you don't live within some proximity of those or the factory, I highly doubt you'll be able to pickup your vehicle from the factory, even if you are a day one reservation holder. Sorry but in addition to that, its likely those who are far from one of these metros will not get delivery of their vehicles early, even if you are a day one reservation holder.

It doesn't make logical sense for them to deliver a vehicle to someone who lives 500 miles or more from a service center. The logistics to support them is difficult, even with remote service.

Even for those who live close to a service center, lets say LA, they probably wouldn't offer factory pickup. Another logistics nightmare if something goes wrong on the way back home and they are far from a service center. It'll likely be limited to those within some proximity to the factory.

This is a similar approach Rivian took and it seems like Scout is borrowing their playbook (they should be reading that playbook carefully for pros/cons if they aren't) so I would be surprised if everyone has the option for a factory pickup.
