December 2024 Scout Production Factory Update

Welcome to our monthly progress updates on the construction of our new Scout Motors Production Center. In March 2023, we unveiled our plan for Scout Motors to build our new Scout® vehicles at a state-of-the-art factory to be built in Blythewood, South Carolina. The site, which spans a vast 1,100 acres, is strategically located about 20 minutes north and east of Columbia, South Carolina. This substantial $2–billion investment is set to revolutionize the region, creating over 4,000 permanent jobs. At peak capacity, we plan to produce 200,000 vehicles a year at the Production Center – that’s 40 per hour. We are thrilled to share our progress with you as construction continues.

The new Scout vehicles will be built on a newly designed body-on-frame electric vehicle platform. As you can see the photos, our Production Center’s main structures include a body shop, a paint shop, and final assembly buildings. The site also features a state-of-the-art training center for our employees and a technology center to support our future vehicles.



December 2024 Update

Another month and significant progress continues at the site. Crews have now moved more than 16 million cubic yards of dirt and continue grading and infrastructure additions and improvements. Floors are going in to the Paint Shop and the final main steel beams have gone into the Assembly Building. Progress has started on railroad connections as well.

This close-up of the main assembly building (above) shows continued progress made in erecting steel and additional roof decking. Approximately 96% of the steel has been installed so far. Assembly building foundations are 88% complete.

When completed, the assembly building will span nearly 1.3 million square feet.

The paint shop (above) exterior walls continue to go up as the paint shop gets closer to full enclosure. The first floors have also started to go into the Paint Shop as well (below).

The body shop (above) work continues at a brisk pace. 81% of the total steel has been erected, and 91% of the foundations have been installed.

The body shop will have more than 600 total foundations that will support 1.3 million square feet of space.

A new addition this month is the Utility Building which made siginificant progress this past month.

I doubt it, the tooling, setup, and training will take some time.

Scout has a schedule of values and timeframe of milestones showing that from developer / Builder once structure is 90% completed Electrical rough in work which will be substantial will take place along with HVAC massive mechanicals along with manufacturing equipment being set up and software lots of equipment be amazing once operational

I’m planning on 2028 for delivery. I’m good with that personally but that’s pure speculation on my part.

The body-on-frame concept is so smart. I’ll bet it reduces collision damage repair costs and thus insurance premiums which are killing EV’s.
