I'm really hoping for a well-thought-out bench that is independently adjustable, has good accessories/cup holders/etc. when the center is folded, still allows HVAC vents/controls in the rear, etc. If they can't pull that off I might just pass on the entire vehicle. I know it sounds petty - but honestly it's a bit too big to only seat five. If that's the case, I'll probably just get the Rivian R2 instead.

I understand what you mean.
I've ridden in vehicles that have a bench front seat but you'd never know it until you put down the center "consol."

Wife will use ours for a dog and Livestock trailer hauler.
But:

Though we have a 43' Toyhauler 5th wheel trailer, when traveling east of the Mississippi it's too much trailer. Yeah people do it.

We want to take a lap around America towing a smaller 26' travel trailer.
1000 ft lb torque Scout is just the vehicle to do it.

On the road, plug the trailer into the Scout for Power where there is no power.

I'm so enthusiastic and anxious about the Scout there will be no living with me.

My Class A is 26', perfect size for 2/3, we have taken it coast to coast twice, northern and gulf routes. When I get the Scout I will sell it and get a 26'TT.

Curious if there will be three separate airbags covering the entire dash/steering wheel area, or a giant passenger side one for the center/passenger seating positions, and if there will be a different airbag config based on the bench option. Are there any other vehicles that have a bench right now? I would think some of the full sized pickups do.

We have a new GMC 3500 with airbags galore. Every time I vacuum the interior I discover another.
Their will be plenty of Airbags but we'll know as demo/drivable models hit the car shows.

Scout Motors VP of design Dwayne Jackson confirmed to me on Instagram today that the bench seat will have a folding center section when the seat isn’t occupied, and that folding center section will have cup holders and an arm rest. Good news.
Might have just swayed my decision...

I'm leaning towards non-bench front because the technology advantages of a center console would be used so much more than a 6th seat. Storage, phone charging etc.,

That is the biggest debate for me as well. I’m leaning toward bench for the nostalgia and so my dog can lay down next to me, but I haven’t been able to decide which is more important. Seat comfort is a factor as well. The m not sure if the bench seat will offer the same comfort on long drives, spirited drives, or bumpy roads/offroad.

I'm 6'4 my wife is maybe 5'4 - for her every seat is comfortable so this will need to be my decision. I have fond memories of the old bench seats, sliding left and right during turns was always fun. But comfort wise for longer trips they tended to lack adjustability so likely I won't be getting it. It would be nice to have for my 90lb dog to lay next to me but she'll be fine in back ;)

Bench seat in our GMC Hard to distinguish from bucket seats;

IMG_4526.jpeg
IMG_4525.jpeg

Over the decades I've discovered it's surprising what options are available if you read them all. Usually the dealer info was way more informative on options than what you read online or the pre-internet brochures.

At one time Ford offered front and rear Diff lockers on some of their 4X4 trucks.

My Moms Chevy II offered a dealer-installed V8. Came in a crate with the car.

My mom wanted a small V8 in her Camaro and read it was the z28 option.
This way before the Z28 was badged on the car, just a simple check the box option.

When I ordered the 2021 GMC truck in 2020, even the dealer didn't know bench seats were available.

Our neighbor Mr Fignoni learned he could order the optional 4 speed automatic Transmission on his Rambler Deluxe Firewood special, when all that was out there from the other mfgs were 2 speed slip and slides and 3 speed slush-O-matic transmissions.
A real unicorn, but was a good unit.

All kinda options on our 2024 GMC not listed on the GM website when ordering online was the re-wake up call.
I have stuff on my new GMC no one has and it came that way from the factory by reading up on what they offer.

Information age, take advantage of it.
