Thankfully they went with something smaller. Looks pretty good. Hopefully they can do a bit better with the keyfob and PAAK reliability than what Rivian launched with.

Well. Looks like a fob.

something built into my phone would be pretty nice to have. An app that is always ready so I can just walk up to my car and start it without having to do anything else

PAAK will be an option if it’s not standard. I can’t see why Scout would waste resources on their own thing and not just pull directly from Rivian’s parts bin. It’s just that Rivian’s implementation hasn’t exactly been the best. I’ve been fairly lucky but I know others have struggled.

I use PaaK but am also always fob'n. My MME's fob weighs too much with it's fake blank key (removed the fob is about 1/2 the weight) I like the looks of this for being different. Though no one sees it in my pocket (I hope, unless it's too bulky)

This looks great! Like the rectangular design choice. I actually like having a physical key fob with me.

I prefer a fob to the phone as a key. But the EV fobs I have (Mustang and Lightning) are massive. I'd really like a credit-card sized fob that can fit in my wallet.

PAAK and wallet key card for backup. I don’t want to carry around a fob. Paak on my Rivian works well, I’d be happy with a ‘27 version of that

Only inconvenience with that is you likely will still have to present your keycard somewhere on the vehicle to unlock and sometimes start, whereas with a FOB or PAAK you have proximity unlock and start. I personally would rather wait a second for the car to unlock than touch a card to the exterior of the car every time but maybe the prox technology will make leaps in the next 2-3 years lol here's to hoping!

It should be possible by now to engineer a fob that's flatter and wider than the traditional keyfob and that works at a distance.

PAAK's main failure mode for me has been that it's not smart enough to work with more than one vehicle. If I forget to select the correct vehicle in the phone, I have to fiddle with the app and then wait until it connects. First world problems to be sure.

Ford Lightning’s fob is massive, but you simply don’t need to carry the fob AT ALL because it can stay in your vehicle (out of sight obviously) then you simply punch in your numeric code in the door panel to unlock your door, hop in and press the start button……as your key is already there…..so there is nothing to really ever loose.

That may be patented by Ford, so the point may be moot.

Facial recognition software on the vehicle, could be a thing to unlock a vehicle. Rain or dirt would obviously distort an image, so if the camera is under a panel that keeps rain and mud/dirt out……I suggest an easy one the CHARGING PORT AREA……then no one has to carry anything (the key can stay in the vehicle out of site).

Since 360 degree cameras are available, that can be done with existing technology, or maybe even voice recognition software from a certain distance. While this may seem superficially expensive, remember in 2024 any new key fob is $300+.

Scoot could get away with giving only one key fob if face or voice recognition software was used.

I didn’t like carrying a key fob in 2011, but by the time 2027 rolls around….if I have to, it better have multiple purposes if I am to lug it around, like a magnesium flint fire starter, and/or a small pocketknifethat would add to the outdoors appeal.

Scout I hope this gets elevated on this one, as the chance to smash it out of the park with almost cost neutral technology or materials is around.

I’m not mad at it. Feels like the ending to attach other keys or keychain is on the thicker side. Hopefully this isn’t the final design, but I like the direction.
