With VW's investment in Rivian and its own EV development now along with Scout one would think by the time scout goes into production the battery technology VW has will be utilized in Scout only making range numbers more positive as well as charging time.

What's refreshing is VW's collaboration with Rivian and other EV entities that when it becomes time to determine what batteries and which type will be a advanced type already with proven data to back up assumptions.

The split tailgate was awesome on the X5. Nothing ever fell out when opening the back, and you also were never leaning over a dirty bumper to get to it. The lower tailgate just extends a little beyond the bumper, so not a drawback for reaching in that would require orangutang arms.

The split tailgate seems like a good idea to me, I'm fine with that. What I'm not good with is the swing-out tire carrier. If there is an option to delete it, I'll take it. If there isn't, I'll do it myself. After living with a swing-out tailgate on my Bronco for two years I vowed never to have to deal with anything like that again.

I’m mixed on the swing out. I have a Bronco too and it’s annoying, but I insist on a full size spare. They’ve said the swing out is optional so I assume it’s removable.
Been wondering if carrying the spare internally like old Broncos and Blazers would fit a 35.

Split tail gate is a must. I have it on my LC200 and is the first feature that grabbed my attention on the Traveler. The new LC250 is just lacking!
And, I really like the swing out tire carrier. It’s a really fun option. I had one on a ‘98 blazer ZR2. But, I forgot to latch it a few times which made for awkward situations and a few dents when making a turn… lol However, if it is an option, I’ll be ordering it as long as it will accommodate a 35.

Ditto but I’m pretty sure it can be deleted.

Why the split tailgate… besides being able to sit on them? Makes it hard to reach in the back and harder even to climb in. Won’t it interfere with some hitches? Seems to me more negatives than positives.
Good points, but my vote's for the split tailgate. Sit on it, work surface/table, shuffle the load around without having to put things on the ground, hold groceries in... lots of upsides too!

Split tailgate on our 2004 XC90 is one reason we still have it - all of that above, plus working in/around the garage/yard, naps during kids' sports, etc.

Scout concept is the first time I've noticed a tire carrier enough to hate it. Are such things usually so polarizing, seems you either love it or hate it?
