I asked jamie about the reliability on the Cabana top, he said all roof options besides the steel are being contracted out to manufactures around the area that specialize in those areas.

And the Cabana Top according to Jamie has been holding up, but it’s really only been in sunny areas. Lol

Let's add some ice and snow weight to it and see. In the end, I am still a steel roof guy, K.I.S.S.

I wonder how many of those Fiat 500's with the cabana roof don't leak and still work. I can't say I've seen the roofs around, let alone the cars.
One thing I learnt with my glass roof is, the pop in sun shade was making it hotter (it was black) and noisier, as it flopped up and down if you didn't magnet the center of it (which looks bad). The first year I had my MME I put the sunshade in, this year I didn't. And honestly aside from a kid in the back seat trying to watch Netflix but getting too much glare from the roof, no one else minded.

Will cabana roof have a cover option? I can't imagine long term durability with out some sort of protection from the elements. I have not been able to find further details on the roof options online.
Had an aftermarket sunroof with this kind of sliding top. Never had any issues with it. You get a much bigger roof opening.

It will have a UV protection coating, best thing to look at is the Jeep One Touch Power Top.

I know leaking was a major issue with it, coming from its A pillar. But being that Scouts wont be removable like Jeep i think leaking is out of the equation. And it’s not being made in house like Jeep, i think results will be much better with it coming for an outside manufacturer that has their own standards for QC.

All Scout roof options besides the Steel roof which is made in house, rest(cabana, glass, sunroof) are being contracted out to USA Automotive Roof Manufacturers.
