If their claim to fame is American made then UAW will be a partner not a problem
Scout was killed because of the UAW strikes against International.

UAW doesn’t need to be up every auto manufacturers a$$. BMW and Volvo have done fine in SC without it. Scout would benefit from not having it i think. But also I'm not a fan of unions.

Isn't International owned by Traton, which is a subsidiary of VW?
Yes but Tratons revenue is so high they would be fine without VW if shit hits the fan. And the Trucking industry never stops trucks are constantly being used and breaking down that have to be replaced a-lot sooner than cars.

Why I think Scout will be UAW is because I believe Rivian was just organized and with VW's strong alignment with EU labor I can't see Labor backing huge investments in foreign entities that hurt them maybe some of the VW engineers migrate over regardless looking forward to see the final offerings

Whether or not Rivian is unionized has nothing to do with Scout. Volkswagen's assembly plant in Tennessee was non-union for over 10 years. The American South has always been more resistant to unions. The UAW will certainly make their case to the Scout workers. It's up to them to decide.

History Repeats it self.

hopefully the factory workers do the part in research about what the UAW did to the brand back in the 80s.

VW is huge. They own multiple brands under their auto group (VW, VW Commercial, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat, Cupra, and Ducati). Then they also own other companies like Cariad, Moia, and Traton. Navistar which evolved from International Harvester’s commercial truck business owned the Scout brand and falls under VW’sTraton business. Describing VW as an investor is interesting. They own the brand. Scout is not listed on the VW website in their list of companies, brands, and holdings. They seem to be operating like an independent subsidiary with their own leadership and financial structure. My take on this is….I don’t think VW is going anywhere and their support is much more robust than just an independent investor.

I agree VW is one of many subsidiaries VW is a division that is being force to adapt to market conditions and China's cheap offerings and labor. But if US VW dealers start feeling the pains and there's this thriving company called Scout I could see dealers filing suit to prove just that VW is more than an investor calling for them to be able to sell and maintain. We shall see but we know they VW is heavily invested in Rivian and now Scout my hope is Scout has a much more reliability rating than Rivian let's hope the engineers learned during the Rivian journey.

I heard that Germany will be giving VW billions of dollars. Since if they are gone Germany’s economy will crash.

and VW is saying that the agreement has to be before Christmas or else it will be how VW HR wants it.

VW is a conglomerate they have many tentacles they are diverse. Each entity though has to provide returns right now VW itself is in need of some downsizing and a new company objective for the future. As to Scout VW affiliation gives them access to current technology as well as hardware it's a win win for everyone VW backs Scout they in turn become clients of VW vast network. There will be growing pains but when things make sense ( Clorox ) it usually sells well. Looking forward to the experience.
