Scout Motors on VW’s situation

Today i reached out to Jamie from scout to see what they know about VW and about what would happen to Scout if VW goes down.

“VW is an investor in Scout Motors, an independent company here in the U.S. I can't speak to Volkswagen's situation with the Volkswagen car company, but a number of legacy car manufacturers are announcing adjustments due to a loss of sales in China (that market has become very crowded) and changes in the automotive industry itself. We are still moving forward with all our plans.”

Seem that Scout will not be affected by this situation. Lets Wish VolksWagen good luck in their fight hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

You’d think there might be some impact to VW going out of business? Did VW loan or give Scout money? Is the plan that VW would initially service vehicles? What would happen with Porsche, Audi etc?

I think they were given the money by the way he made it sound. But as on what Jamie said he cant speak on VWs part.

Loosing VW's parts bin would hurt. But honestly, many companies are relocating resources as the China market has been lost.

It's hard to believe if VW disappeared it would not affect Scout but VW is not going away. I imagine there's going to be some major belt tightening there which have ripple effects. Scout has to distance themselves from VW to bolster their claim of independence as an end-around to not having to use Volkswagen's dealer network. Scout would be happy if we never brought up VW again.

From what it sound like on VWs side is that they will probably sell all assets in china. And focus on Europe and will work with the EU to protect the German automaker.

Let's look at what VW itself is offering other than the Atlas there isn't anything exciting maybe they are going ta take a backseat for now to see how Scout is received and the tech at time of delivery is and what profit margins are. But I think VW will survive and this may also be a legal play to keep CW dealers from filing suit against them to allow scout sales. The good thing is we're at the poker table.

Scout is an Independent brand. VW dealers can suck balls. Scout is D2C model. Thats it end of story.

VW is only an investor as on what Jamie from Scout has said.

cause it aint Scout, they are an independent American company.

I think with VW already invested in Rivian and who knows what there life span is. VW is playing puts and calls if Rivian hits turbulence VW swoops in and takes that technology and insight over to the new shinning knight scout

Volkswagen has ambitious plans to transform its lineup into primarily electric models. However, investments to fund this shift are putting a strain on its current finances. For instance, Volkswagen invested around $5 billion in Rivian, an American EV startup, and even more into new factories dedicated to producing electric vehicles under the Scout brand. Yet, given Volkswagen’s current financial troubles, questions remain about whether the company can afford to bring these vehicles to market by the planned 2027 production year

The world isnt ready to go full EV dumb on the auto industry and horrible job on the EU for pushing the manufactures.



and for VWs finical problems affecting Scout. Scout Motors can fix it real quick, private investors and going publicly traded or heres one that most people probably haven’t thought about yet, but Scout could talk to International which used to be Navi Star about them investing. If VW takes a shit which would never happen since Germany would give them money most likely and their investors would give them money. I think its a bunch if crap. Hopefully Scout stays away from the UAW.

Isn't International owned by Traton, which is a subsidiary of VW?
