Hear me out for a sec. Lots of people purchase “off-roading vehicles” because they love the aesthetic and hardiness of the SUV but almost never leaved paved roads, traverse through three feet of water, or rock crawl. Personally all those abilities and features are unnecessary for my purposes. I just want an SUV that is very capable at towing a 4,000 or 5,000 lb travel trailer over mountain passes in the Rockies to the next campground. I also need it to muscle through 16 wheeler traffic on the interstates when necessary. I need created comforts inside the car for long days on the paved roads for the most part. I would like a Scout that was a bit leaner in length and width than the current concept Scout so I can park it inside my garage when using as a daily driver. Also something more geared to towing features than to off-roading, such as beefed up camera views of what is beside and behind my camper, back-up towing assist etc. A Scout Jr,or cadet, if you will. 😆 Oh, and most important, must have a hybrid (Harvester) to avoid range anxiety when towing. The battery technology is not quite advanced enough to do pure ev towing, especially in the cold, for long hauls. The charging infrastructure and wait times can be rough at this point.

You garage won’t fit a midsize SUV? What length are you looking for?

My LR4 just barely fits through my garage door, and only with the side mirrors pulled in.

Oh, you must have one of those little 1 car garages sandwiched between row houses in Trenton? Just kidding, but I have seen those, was stationed at Ft Dix, and had a G-friend at Stockton Uni in Auburn.

Not that I have one, but have watched youtube videos on the shrinking of garages. Developers want to squeeze houses into narrower lots - and there is just so much they can compress the house without compressing the garage - and the garage is the easiest to compress. Doubt I will see it much in Texas - as too many people have full sized trucks and SUV's, and honestly in Texas land is cheaper than many other places. But it is definitely an issue in cities that can not sprawl due to geographic constraints.

Personally, am working on building a new home - it will NOT have a compressed, or even a normal sized garage-it will be supersized a bit. It started as a deep 3 car, and I added another 6' in width. Builder squirmed when I asked about going 4 car.

I have a 3 car detached with a shop in the back, love it.

Actually I have a 2 door, 3 car garage technically but the house was built 20 years ago when cars were slimmer I guess. There is a stupid pole between the single wide space and the double wide space. Since my daily driver is a 2 seater coupe the car doors have a large wing span so the tiny car hogs two spaces. I would hate to nick those doors.

My previous garage was detached and larger than my ranch house!!! It had three supersized bays 30’ deep, with the center bay having a 10’ high entry door, probably to get a boat in. The building had a second story area that the guy I sold it to turned into a man cave. I do miss it, as does my camper!

I’m sure you’ll get your smaller Scout. Just a question of when and whether it will have 2 doors.

Uh.... so basically you dont want the Traveler. Probably should look at another brand. There's other "road" type EVs that can tow 5000 today.

I'd imagine that the base models are going to come with road tires and the upper trims or options packages will have the off road tires, just like a wrangler or bronco or even the Rivian vehicles.

However the vehicle sizes... According to the dimensions shown in the website, these are both fullsize vehicles. The traveler being roughly the size of a Tahoe/expedition and the Terra matching pretty close to a Silverado/F-150.
Quite large vehicles, but that's what Americans want.

Youre probably right they will have a model with road tires but like the Rivian it will make no sense. The capability of the R1T/R1S with the air suspension, hydraulic roll control, etc, makes no sense with road tires. Such overkill. The R2 makes a lot more sense.

I suspect if Scout makes a base model with road tires it will also be overkill. Whats the point of that ground clearance when it will never go offroad. Perhaps they will tweak other things so that its cheaper and makes more sense for on road use.

I need a gasser with great mpg or a hybrid/Harvester to avoid range anxiety.

I believe on the official Scout forum it was said that 19 inch wheels are the smallest it will allow due to brakes.
i think the tire is removable which makes it 195 inches long, basically it’s the size of a Toyota sienna (my other car so I’ve measured it out)

18" is the smallest wheel, and Traveler is 190.9 inches long without the external spare.
