RIP Scout 80, '99 Wrangler Rubicon
I didn't see the tire size on the concepts posted anywhere. They were BFGoodrich KO3 tires in size 35x12.50R20 on 20" wheels.

35%22 Tire Size on 2027 Scout Concepts were 35x12.50R20 (BFGoodrich KO3) 3.jpg

I thought a smaller wheel size (but still 35”) tire would be more efficient, no?

Better for off-road plus way better looking imo. NO WAY I want 20" inch wheels. NO WAY
Very happy with 35" K03

Sorry for the repeat - posted this on another thread here... These vehicles are too powerful and too heavy and need the large brakes. Trust me, I get the desire for smaller wheels, larger sidewalls and those work on traditional offroad ICE vehicles. Hell, my JL has an Edelbrock supercharger which hit 385hp on the dyno, but it still can't get out of its own way. My Rivian has TONS more power and nearly 2x the weight...

Post on other thread:

Have 3 vehicles on 17s wrapped in 35s and love the extra sidewall for off-roading. Given the weight of these EVs compared to our ICE 4x4s, they have to carry large braking systems. Shocked they even offer an 18".

For everyone who uses high regen braking on their EV, you know you can drive 99% of the time without ever touching the brakes. I used to stare at the large brakes on our Rivian wondering why the hell they are so big given they are rarely used.

Last week, a car pulled out in front of us on a remote highway while we were going 60. The R1S locked up the brakes and slid sideways a bit trying not to destroy the tiny Honda Civic.

Our Rivian packed out from vacation was closing in on 9K lbs. I'm stooked to get 18s!!!

I wholly agree, you need the larger brakes. This vehicle is probably going to weigh 8000+ lbs empty with the top battery range.
They shouldn't reengineer (and I doubt they would no matter how many people suggested it) to get 17 inch wheels.
