"There's an app for that!" Thanks for the star gazer suggesstion Very cool.

For all dark sky fans, consider DarkSky International They're a group of volunteers working to protect dark skys. Their website has a handy Search feature to find dark skies locations. These tend to be scenic, remote places--attractive destinations for trips in our Scouts.
We camp at Winterhaven, (north of Yuma on the Calif border) in the desert a lot, love to lay out in the lounger and just enjoy the awesome canopy of stars, we use SkyView to ID things we don't know.

From time to time people wander up to our camp and they are stuck.

Rental motor homes, the Subaru “asymmetrical ” 4WD commercials convinced owners they can go anyplace and they end up body pan deep in blow sand.

High-centered on the road berm tourists in rentals didn’t judge their U-turn,,

We’re in the nowhere everyplace is a million miles from and sometime we can easily get them rolling & on their way.

Ya don’t need the $299 kinetic tow rope, good ones to be had for $50.

I carry it in case WE get stuck but if someones situation is simple and they have a legit hard point to connect-to we help in this land of no cell service.

The Super strap is a dandy to carry along too or instead.

They “weave” at connecting points are are fantastic.

Found under different brand names and pricy$$.

We were cruising along doing fine and Google maps said turn at the next road.

Confidently turned and in 50 feet were axels deep in what appeared to be hard pack.

So lucky us a jeep club came rolling by and in minutes pulled us out.

Hey,,, it happens.
Google maps was wrong, the correct turn was 5 miles down the road.
