Just the other day in Ontario our highway got shutdown due to snow squall and people were stranded for most of the day. Overlanders like myself also car camp and would love to have the harvester model help provide cabin heat. Theres got to be a way to provide 10+ hrs heat exchanger support at 0°c and below with the help of the harvester and not run down the battery like crazy. My fear is getting stuck from a snow storm for 8 hours and not having any battery to drive away once road reopens. my dream is warm car camping. V2L is also equally important but yeah make this thing useful when life throws a curve (snow) ball our way. Forest fires are also on the rise and a lot of people might appreciate cabin filters to help with air quality the way tesla can. Think about it!

Edit: I looked it up. Tesla does have a "camp" mode. That is what this car needs. Allow it to run HVAC and only HVAC long term. <1.6kw/hr so 1-2% of a tesla battery per hour

I know in milder temps, a Tesla Model 3 heat pump will use only about 1% / hour of energy.

So I'm not sure I'd be too afraid of getting stuck from a storm event. And the colder it is, the less its going to be snowing in the first place.

If you are going out into a storm or on a day where that's anticipated, you need to be prepared. But the first advice is simply to not put yourself in that situation in the first place though that seems to be happening less and less these days.

I don't see this as a valid rationale for having a REX. People that were stranded in your example were well supported by local residents and also by people on snowmobiles etc.

A bioweapon defense mode with positive pressure though...I'd be all in on that.

So I should be able to car camp overnight in a Traveller with the heat on? I hope the seats fold flat!

I've overnight camped in my Mustang Mach-E in sub-freezing weather. In one instance, I used the seat heaters and didn't need HVAC, and in the other case I slept in the back and used HVAC. I carry a "bugout" bag with a wool blanket and in both cases I was entirely comfortable. I saw <1% per hour use, so a 10-hour delay wouldn't reduce range by a worrisome amount.
